I felt like I was eating food from someone’s grandma’s kitchen. It was phenomenal. I don’t know how authentic Caribbean food is (gringo here), but i do know when I have food that took time and effort to cook.
The pork shoulder had the perfect mix of fat to protein. The Puerto Rican rice was moist and a little bit smokey. All around, a great lunch.
The staff was friendly and attentive. I speak very little Spanish, and that was the only awkward part. Bonus points for authenticity!
The neighborhood is a little rough for suburban folks, but I encourage you to take the plunge.

We had such an amazing experience at Karibeña! This authentic Puerto Rican restaurant is truly a gem in Milwaukee. The food was absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Every dish tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned, and you can tell the recipes are traditional and authentic.
What made our visit even more special was our waitress, Angelica. She was incredible — so warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, gave great recommendations, and checked on us throughout our meal without ever being intrusive. You can tell she truly cares about her guests and takes pride in her service.
Between the amazing Puerto Rican food and Angelica’s outstanding service, this was easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Milwaukee. We will absolutely be back — and we’ll definitely be asking for Angelica again!
If you’re looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine and wonderful hospitality, Karibeña is a must-visit.

Such a huge fan of this place. The staff is so friendly, the aesthetics of the restaurant are so nice with the big screens and tropical feel of the decorations.
The food? Equally as incredible. Although the food is a liiiittle over priced , the quality and quantity make it feel like you aren’t being taken advantage of. I recommend the carne frita with white rice and bean, tostones, and try the empanadas. This restaurant will not disappoint. I promise!

Great place with a great atmosphere. The food was delicious. We got the arañitas and maduros to share and I ordered the pataconada. All of it was so tasty. Erica did a great job making sure we had what we needed and checked on us diligently. Definitely coming back.

Good place with good food, the waittress seemed a little disinterested and grumpy but otherwise everything was great. I got the mangu and it was tasty. The biggest regret I have was eating not long before coming here so I couldn’t finish the heavy dish while it was still warm.

The chicken soup served upon arrival was fabulous. Erecka, our server, was so pleasant. She brought a small sample of the fresh pork to be sure we’d be happy with our choice. The food was delicious and generous. The background music got a little louder as time went on but we were able to talk over it.

Angelica made it an amazing experience dinning in. The food was great. Atmosphere super fun. FYI they do not have alcoholic drinks, which was a bummer. Overall awesome.
