The cupcakes are big, well presented + packaged and they taste good. Overall, the place is a bit overhyped for the price and wait. The service and crowd management can definitely be improved. The staff seemed sufficient, yet they were yelling at customers to not block the door instead of politely guiding them on where to wait or better- managing the door to control how many customers could enter and wait comfortably at a given time. One of the staff even rolled their eyes when we asked to add one more cupcake at checkout — requiring them to walk barely 2 feet to grab and place a ready to go cupcake into our box. Otherwise, they are clearly popular and in a very busy and enjoyable part of the town.

A great place for cookies, cupcakes, and other sweets. You have to make a quick decision on what you want to get because they start asking what you want right after you walk in if there’s a line. Overall really good baked goods. Highly recommend the lemon crunch bar, great creativity and even better lemon curd. Cookies were solid, got ginger molasses and peanut butter. Cupcakes were nice too, a little pricey though. Super nice area with a little bridge nearby and other restaurants and bakeries. A little hard to find parking.

Came here for dessert and I could see why the line was nearly wrapped around the block. I had the gluten-free chocolate chip cupcake and my husband had the carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes. We were very pleased! So delicious!

Best cupcakes we’ve had perhaps in decades. We tried the “Chocolate Doom” and “Razmanian Devil” flavors and both cupcakes were exceptionally moist, light and airy with a perfectly balanced, and topped with a not overly sweet rich, creamy, smooth frosting, which enhanced the cake flavors. Worth going out of your way to try. See my posted photos if you need further pursuasion.

A large variety of cupcakes and all are delicious. Favorites are the Vegan Oreo and German Chocolate Cake (both shown). Can be a big line at peak times so would recommend coming earlier in the day. The coffee is good & everyone is very nice! Very limited seating.

The cupcakes were really good and so was the coffee. This place deserves all the hype. Good service as well.

As much as I hate to share, this is my FAVORITE cupcake spot in the entire DC/Maryland/Virginia area. They have the perfect cake to frosting ratio. I’ve never had a bad cupcake, cookie, etc.

A Sweet DC Icon That Still Deserves the Hype

Baked & Wired is a Georgetown must for anyone with a sweet tooth—or a serious love for great coffee. Back in the heyday of DC’s cupcake craze, the debate was always Georgetown Cupcake vs. Baked & Wired. Personally? I think Baked & Wired still wins.

The cupcakes are generous in size, super moist with just the right amount of frosting (not too sweet, not too skimpy), and each flavor is paired with a cute, hand-illustrated sign that makes choosing feel like a mix between a gallery visit and a dessert decision crisis. The vibe? Artsy, bustling, and delightfully chaotic.

Be prepared: it’s almost always crowded. I don’t think I’ve ever visited when it wasn’t packed. The line moves quickly, but it’s definitely not the place for lingering inside—unless you’re lucky enough to snag a coveted seat. I managed to grab a spot outside, which felt like winning a little cupcake lottery.

Also worth noting: the coffee and tea game here is strong. So whether you’re stopping by for an afternoon pick-me-up or a treat-yourself moment, it’s always worth the wait.

Baked & Wired is one of those rare places that has stood the test of time in DC—and continues to deliver.

BEST cupcakes in dc! These taste so fresh and delicious. I recommend these to anyone that visits or is looking for a sweet treat. My favorite flavors are the lemon blueberry, carrot cake and red velvet. They also have delicious coffee, biscuits, and their cheesecake brownie is to die for!! They were super helpful when it came to my mom’s allergy accommodations as well

If you are going to get cupcakes in DC come here!
We got the cherry blossom and the German chocolate and both were delicious. Both were soft and moist. Completely different tastes but both very good, and fit their names.
