They smoke their mac & cheese, and by their own testimony, it’s sometimes sticky, and sometimes creamy. The baked beans were a little too sweet for me, but they were good.
The meat: I got brisket and ribs. The ribs were tender and tasted good; the brisket was dry and tough with juices pouring off of it; it was obviously stored in the juices it was smoked in. I don’t want to make you think it didn’t taste good, but it wasn’t tender and juicy in the meat itself.
Holy smokes, Bustin Butts Barbecue is incredible!
I had the brisket sandwich with mac and cheese, and my husband got the small pork sandwich with green beans — both were absolutely delicious! The portions were generous and piled high with perfectly smoked meat, hands down the best smoke flavor we’ve ever had.
They even have a drive-through, which was super convenient since we were on the go, but there’s also plenty of space to sit and eat, plus a cute little produce stand on-site. While we were there, we met one of the owners, CJ, who was so friendly and took the time to chat with us about the food.
We’ll definitely be back — highly recommend this place to anyone who loves real, flavorful barbecue!
Bustin’ Butts BBQ was hands down one of the most memorable stops of my vacation in Pigeon Forge — and not just because of the food.
I had the privilege of spending time talking with the owner, Mr. CR, and that conversation alone made the visit unforgettable. He is an incredible person — humble, hardworking, and deeply intentional about his journey and his purpose. You can tell immediately that he doesn’t just run a restaurant; he lives his values and wants everyone who walks through his doors to leave better than they came in.
The food was excellent — I ordered the chicken, a brisket sandwich, mac and cheese, and even took a full pound of brisket to go. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and cooked with care. But honestly, as good as the food was, it wasn’t even the best part of the experience.
The best part was meeting the owner, taking a photo together, and hearing firsthand about his life, his journey, and what Bustin’ Butts truly represents. That kind of authenticity and passion is rare, and it’s something you feel the moment you walk in.
If you’re looking for more than just great BBQ — if you’re looking for a place with heart, purpose, and soul — Bustin’ Butts is a must-visit. I’ll absolutely be back, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to stop by.
