So happy I stumbled upon this quaint and inviting restaurant after my appointment in Caroll Gardens. Gabriela was so sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The decor is festive and vibrant like many Mexican restaurants but there’s a more mellow, cool toned factor to it as shown in the photos. I had a spicy margarita, a rajas tamale and a chicken tinga tostada that was a decent portion and also very delicious. Can’t wait to stop by again!

We came here for Valentine’s dinner. Kochitl serves Mexican comfort food and favorites in a homey and unpretentious setting.

Our Mexican dinner will not be complete without a glass or two of classic margaritas, and it was more enjoyable together with a plateful of fried calamari served with garlic mayo.

We then ordered beef and chicken fajitas served with rice, beans, and corn tortillas and Camarones a la Mexicana; shrimp cooked in jalapeño, tomato, and onion salsa. All the dishes came in a timely fashion, and they were all delicious. My only qualm is that all dishes are overly covered with peppers and onions.

Overall, the staff is genuinely helpful, friendly, and attentive. I will come back to this restaurant to try their other menu. But I will probably tell the cook to take it easy on peppers and onions.

Small cute place for amazing Mexican food at a great price! The margaritas were great (I chose passionfruit while boyfriend had a classic) the trio of chips and salsa was amazing, the salsa is sooo good!! Had enchiladas and surf and turf. The shrimp was incredible! Had a charred quality and the pico on the side was delicious. The waitresses were super nice and helpful, lovely spot!

Food was okay. It was quiet for the time went. It was odd the waitress sat us so close to the bar and the solo patron when the place was empty – would have liked more room for our party of 5.

Food was okay. Most of us had burritos. I had shrimp for my protein and I forgot that’s what I had because I barely tasted it.

$95 for 4 burritos, 1 taco set, 1 specialty drink.

Good Mexican food for a reasonable price. I can’t say that it is 100% authentic, but I’d still say that it does Mexican cuisine justice. It’s obviously always going to be WAY cheaper if you just head to Jackson Heights, Queens and buy Mexican food from a street vendor, but for what it is, a sitdown restaurant in Brooklyn, the prices aren’t half-bad.

Yes, I had Don Julio tacos with a hard shell, but tacos taste great in both hard and soft shells and today I was just feeling for a crunchy one. They tasted great. No complaints.

The trio of salsa chips were good, but even for someone who enjoys spicy, I thought they were very high on the heat scale. The salsa verde was the most palatable one because it was the least spicy, but the other two salsas were super spicy. The morita salsa (the dark brown one) was arguably the spiciest but because there wasn’t a whole lot of other flavors in it besides JUST spicy, it sorta hits you in an unpleasant way. And given that it costs $5 for a lemonade, I was trying to resist quenching my thirst to cool the heat and had to pour a glass of water which thankfully they had on the table already. If you’re not VERY into spicy food, I would skip this one.

The flautas, beans, and rice were all great. No complaints. Flavorful and satisfying.

The mole poblano was also good, but not great. I’ve had homemade mole many times and it tasted 5x better than what I had here. That’s not to say this one was BAD, but it isn’t anything like I’m used to. There’s more of a sourness to this one and I’m used to a more gentle, sweet taste. The homemade mole that I normally eat also has chicken that’s so tender it falls off the bone super easily. The chicken that I had here, on the other hand, was pretty stiff like what you’d expect from baked chicken. If you’re familiar, with authentic mole, I probably wouldn’t get this, but if you’re looking to get a grasp of what mole is like, it’s definitely an option.

As for the atmosphere, it was colorful, friendly and inviting. Our server was pretty attentive which should be expected because it’s a small restaurant, but it’s still something that’s worth noting. And as always, I do a restroom check in my reviews because I want to get a grasp of the cleanliness of the restaurant and they definitely passed the test.

I would come back here if I’m in the neighborhood.

Excellent food with a cozy atmosphere. Good service and healthy portions. Didn’t get a chance to try drinks here but the bar looked to have a pretty wide tequila selection. Will come again.

Delicious. I ate with 3 friends. We all loved it. Serve with a smile and friendly staff but not over powering. Lovely salsa and chips to start, the homemade guacamole is a requirement to try. The food was served piping hot with sizzling fajitas delivered to the table. Really nice flavours with rich sauces. Added hot sauce to give it a kick. Really reasonable for New York which made a nice change. Loved it and would be more than happy to return!
