The atmosphere here is nice, combining traditional American restaurants and small, separate general stores. The staff are polite, friendly, attentive to customers, professional. The food delivery speed is excellent. There is soft music playing in the dining table atmosphere and the architecture made of real wood. I was impressed for the first time here. Thank you for today.

The only reason I’m giving this place two stars is because of Nikki. We came in as a party of seven and were told there was a 30-minute wait. We browsed the store and played checkers, which wasn’t a problem. When our table was ready, our waitress arrived quickly and took our drink orders. However, things went downhill from there.

When it was time to order food, I went first. I ordered the apple cinnamon pancake platter but asked if I could substitute the eggs for something else due to an egg intolerance. The waitress immediately said no and rushed over to my mother without further explanation. My mother has a very restricted diet but can eat fish. She ordered the rainbow trout and asked for it to be cooked without butter. The waitress responded, “So no seasoning then, got it.” When my mom asked if the seasoning contained butter, the waitress didn’t answer and had already moved on.

When our food arrived, my pancakes were served without the apples on top—they were on the side in a bowl—and I didn’t receive my bacon. My mom’s fish was clearly buttered and seasoned, despite her request. I felt insulted by the waitress’s lack of care and asked to speak to the manager. When the manager arrived, she yelled the entire time she spoke. My mom explained that her fish was buttered, to which the manager replied, “It’s not butter; it’s margarine.” A long argument ensued, during which the manager claimed they couldn’t guarantee the margarine spray wouldn’t get on my mom’s fish, even if they scraped the grill. She refused to cook the fish any other way, said they couldn’t make unseasoned rice, and was overall very rude.

The manager did offer to substitute okra for my eggs and said she would bring it out with my bacon. Meanwhile, my mom left the restaurant to get a salad from Chick-fil-A, which, by the way, was far more accommodating than Cracker Barrel. I waited for my okra and bacon, but they never arrived. Eventually, I stopped another waitress named Nikki and explained what had happened. She assured me that substitutions were possible and even shared that she had made similar requests herself. Nikki apologized for the long wait and offered to get me anything as an apology for the inconvenience. She even gave my brother a free drink. Nikki deserves to be the manager—not the other woman.

The conduct of our original waitress and the manager was completely unprofessional and ruined the experience. All I can say is that someone needs to promote Nikki.

The saddest part is it was my great grandmother’s 94th birthday and the experience was ruined for her.

Absolutely horrendous experience in every way that it could be, they told us the wait would be 20-25 minutes, an hour later we were still waiting. The hostess seemed extremely confused when asked the simplest of questions. Aside from our waitress (who was pleasant) everyone working seemed visibly inconvenienced by the fact we were eating in their restaurant.
The men’s bathroom had toilet water overflowing to the tune of about a 1/2 inch of putrid foul smelling water on the floor with absolutely no one doing ANYTHING to fix it. To put this in perspective we were there for close to 2&1/2 hours.
Moving on to the food, my chicken was dry and overcooked, the “fried”okra was dry with no crunch somehow. My son’s burger was ordered medium and came out tougher than a two dollar pair of slippers. By far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Cracker Barrel.

You can count on Cracker Barrel cooks up a big and satisfying breakfast. Our waiter Brandon was so kind and patient, he checked on us frequently throughout the meal.
I had The Cracker Barrel’s Country Boy Breakfast, which consisted of three eggs, sirloin steak tips, two sides, two biscuits, and gravy. I ordered two pecan pancakes covered with fresh strawberries and hashbrown casserole as the two sides. It was a lot of food. Everything was cooked perfectly. The sirloin steak tips were very tender but slightly salty for my taste. My mom loved the loaded hashbrown casserole tots. There was no wait when we got there at 10 AM on a Wednesday.
It was also lots of fun shopping in their store afterwords.

Great food. Service is usually good but on our recent visit our waitress took our order and gave us our food and then left home and forgot to inform the floor manager, we wanted to order more food and we were waiting for a while. And then I spoke to the manager and she was very kind and apologized and had us taken care of. Shout out to the manager. I’m gonna let it pass as this was our first time this happened. I had visited here several times and usually the service is very good. But the food was great as always.

This probably was by far the best location we’ve been to in Richmond. Their biscuits are definitely different from what we’ve seen over the years. The turkey & gravy is amazing. If you’ve been to Cracker Barrel you know their pancakes. But I do need for them to get those crispy edges on the pancakes back. We don’t want fluffy pancakes. We want fluffy pancakes with crispy edges or flat pancakes with crispy edges. Whatever you have to do to get us crispy edges back.
This is the second location we’ve been to where we’ve realized that it had changed. Service was awesome as well.

The hamburger steak was pretty good as well as the Mac n cheese. Definitely recommended.

Five Stars is always in order here. We get great service and the food is always hot. My situation is to pull my loving wife from the attractions of all the items that you see. There’s always something new or something old that reminds you of your childhood. I saw some candy that, Old My Lord that I remember was my favorite. Like that “Zero” candy bar…Wow!!! Go by when you can. It’s a treasure find.

We had dinner with another couple and arrived at 5:45pm. The table had not been cleaned properly and was sticky. We ask for Biscuits and corn bread muffins. The waitress came back and said the biscuits would be delayed and there were no more muffins available. We had to ask for straws and napkins. I gave my order for meatloaf and dumplings along with the rest of the orders from our group. Later the waitress returned and said they had run out of dumplings. I told her I would substitute with the mashed potatoes. Everyone’s meal arrived. I looked at my plate and saw a small tablespoon of potatoes instead of a normal scoop of potatoes. The collard greens were tough.
One person in our party order scrambled eggs and it had egg shells in it. Good waitress but awful food.

Employees were more interested in going home instead of working.
Took five minutes for someone to seat us and the place was nearly empty.
Wife ordered steak and shrimp and asked for medium well, it was red inside. I ordered the Lemon Pepper trout and it was nothing but pepper, just awful.
Had to ask for cornbread and biscuits. The cornbread muffins were well done.
Waiter spent most of his time cleaning up the section and filling the salt and pepper shaker at our table, ready to end his shift.
Last few visits at Craker Barrel have been awful. Will not be back after many years.

If you are looking for comfort food this is your place. The menu is varied with something for everyone and the prices are very reasonable. I went on a Friday night and still had no wait time. The waitress warned us that the food might take longer than usual to come but it still came quicker than most places. Service is always efficient and good and the wait staff seem friendly and happy despite being very busy. Make sure you get some extra biscuits to go as they are happy to give them to you. There are a generous selection of sides to order with most entrees. You shouldn’t go away hungry! Those looking for multiple healthy low calorie choices might be disappointed but I think most people will be happy. The entrance is an adventure for those going for the first time, jammed with a huge variety of merchandise to buy. Definitely an experience for the uninitiated.
