Chicken N Pickle is a place we come to, typically multiple times, during our multi-annual trips to AZ. It is such a fun place to go, with so many activities to entertain you, like giant connect-four, corn hole, and of course pickle ball…in addition to food and drinks. And they have the best outdoor seating area around. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because it seems challenging to get service outside…usually we have to walk up to the bar and get someone’s attention and then they’ll send someone out…ten minutes later. And, something that seems to irritate only me, but if you are sitting OUTSIDE you can order drinks and appetizers from the servers but you have to walk INSIDE to order any other kind of food, separately. This, for whatever reason, drives me up the wall. Every time I’m there I swear that if I ever win a good sized lotto I’m buying Chicken N Pickle and that is the first change I’m making. Lol Other than that, fabulous fun, good drinks, and the food is good…if you decide to walk up to order it!

Chicken N Pickle has a fun atmosphere with pickleball courts both inside and outside. There are also backyard games like Cornhole and Battleship. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced, and the food is delicious. I came in a Sunday early afternoon and the service is friendly and quick. There is both indoor and outdoor seating for the restaurant and bars. I would definitely come again with family or friends!

The Pickleball was fun, and we had a great young feller asking us if we were OK
We asked him if we could get into his section, but ended up at a different table.
Way to many servers coming and going, they got one order wrong, dropped one our eights order, and forgot her drink.
No one seemed dedicated to our table.
All in all though, very neat concept, we enjoyed ourselves.

If a zero-star review were possible, this experience would earn it. While the venue itself appears fun, the atmosphere turned instantly hostile for my family and I.

Upon arrival, all courts were occupied due to a private event, this was initially not an issue as members of the private party kindly allowed my family to use a court. However, our enjoyment was violently cut short when the manager Maci approached us. She immediately and aggressively threatened to call the police for trespassing.

Maci was completely unwilling to listen to our attempts to explain the situation. My uncle offered to pay several times (a gesture made solely to de-escalate the rapidly deteriorating situation, as we shouldn’t have been paying for a court that the group had already rented), but despite this she persisted in harassing us. The situation was then drastically escalated by Maci, who brought in security and later the police.

This visit was meant to be a joyous occasion as I was visiting for the holidays, and my family, who frequents the establishment, was excited to share their favorite fun place with me. To have my first experience so utterly tainted and ruined by the manager’s actions was truly devastating.

To understand the social and political climate in this country is to grasp what escalating an easily dismissible issue to law enforcement can mean for Black Americans in America. I am compelled to state the painful truth my family were the only people of color present at the time, and the treatment we received was drastically different from that afforded to other guests.

The emotional toll was immediate and crushing, not understanding the situation my little cousins were reduced to tears as they watched their father being belittled and dehumanized (first by the manager and then by law enforcement). There are simply not enough words to convey the depth of the hurt, frustration, and humiliation my family had to endure during what was supposed to be a fun night out.

As a result of Maci’s reckless and extreme behavior, my family is now emotionally scarred and deeply shaken up by this entire ordeal. It is profoundly saddening that this has been my first, and what may be my last interaction with Chicken N Pickle.

Maci, you must do better. Chicken N Pickle, you must choose better management.

Food is great. But for the price you pay for the courts and the promise of service at the court, we have yet to have good service any time other than 8am on a weekend. We often rent a court for two full hours and have NEVER had service without having to go inside to ask for someone. Tonight we were there for 65 minutes and had to go inside to order after 25 minutes but weren’t allowed to order inside. Server came right over after but then didn’t come back at all. After another 40 minutes, we had to go inside again to order. It’s not busy and there are lots of staff. We always tip over 20%, order food, and expensive drinks. We might have to stop coming here altogether. It was better when there were service flags. Incredibly disappointed.

Pickleball interior staff is always top notch though.

Chicken N Pickle is a fabulous place to have a night out. Especially if you are there to play pickleball. The courts are nice. The atmosphere is accepting. They have other types of games to play as well. As far as the food. I have had the chicken quesadilla and it is really great.

Booked an igloo experience for the kids. Food and drinks were good. Games and spot was nice. Service a little slow and the other igloo reservation had their smores melt.
