Came here on a Saturday for lunch. Didn’t have to wait for a table. Was able to get a table quickly. Was served some toasty bread and whipped butter to enjoy while waiting for our order.
As you can see from the pics, our lunch order includes a very hearty helping of seasoned fries. I was quite surprised by that. But it was nice and hot, just the right crisp to it, too!
Anyway, this is a great place to stop at for a filling meal that you don’t have to wait too long for if you’re ever in the area. It won’t disappoint you. Plus, you get very friendly service…like you get from people who enjoy where they work. Hopefully they really do!

My first time here and our waiter took great care. I enjoyed the pulled pork with Lexington and Eastern NC sauces. The sides were coleslaw and beans, which were fine but the meat was the star. I’d come back again and try other sides next time.

Excellent food and service. We had the brisket and sausage combo with coleslaw and warm potato salad. The brisket was juicy, tender and flavored with the perfect amount of smoke. The sausage was amazing. It was also juicy but had a complex flavor profile that was really delicious. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I had their homemade warm banana pudding. Outstanding! I’m going to be craving this week’s later, I just know it.

Great sauces, good food. It was tasty enough, just wish it hadn’t been lukewarm. The Lexington and East Carolina were my favorite sauces. I had the pork shoulder platter with collards and pit roasted veggies. I would have liked to have had some vinegar for the collards, but they didn’t have any. I used the East Carolina sauce and that worked. The veggies seem to be steamed, not roasted. D.B. was great and so nice that I didn’t want to complain.

Lunch today at County Grill & Smokehouse, Hampton. My first visit to this truly Star Spangled BBQ and as I eaten around the central and southeast. I’m developing a sense of if the bbq pit is trying too hard with lots of kitsch to say they are more authentic. Well that’s probably not truth.
So entering CG&S you don’t get that vibe you get laid back and relaxed, welcome come on in we don’t put on aires. You will be seated in large roomy booth and then greeted by your server who will cover your table in butchers paper. Ok you can now guess there will be sauces and juices the 4-6” stack of thick paper towels near the wall of your table and the rack of bottles could have been your first indication. The menu everything you expect to come out of the smoker from shoulder, ribs of every sort to sausages, brisket, chicken and turkey.
Give County the opportunity they will start you with your favorite alcoholic or non beverage and an item or tree from the starter menu
Stuffed Bbq Shrimp, Brisket Bacon Dip, or maybe Chili Cheese Fries topped w/brisket and if Wings are your thing go 5, 10,15,or 20.
But save room for the main event Pork Shoulder, Beef Brisket, Ribeye Steak, Center Cut Pork Chops, or Smoked 1/2 Chicken and for the family members say they need something lighter Yellow Fin Tuna all these served with two sides and warm Corn Muffins. And if you’re looking the Sandwiches and Salads they don’t disappoint the same freshly smoked meats tucked into fresh bread and rolls. Or topping fresh from the garden greens and vegetables. For those with a sweet tooth and have a tiny place set aside they have a selection of traditional comfort desserts.
You can make your visit to County your office lunch break but I recommend you give yourself a little more time relax, enjoy, and don’t forget to lick your fingers. This is what a bbq should be.

After ordering from this restaurant numerous times, I decided to take my family here. The food is absolutely amazing! Every dish looked appetizing and was filling and flavorful. The mood of the restaurant is slightly dim and homelike. Most importantly, the service was quick. You will not be disappointed with this place!

Very good. Brisket was not quite as tender as it could have been and they don’t have the bark perfect but it was a solid 3.5-4 stars I would say. Poblano Mac and cheese was amazing, corn bread was very good too.

Brisket and pulled pork a hair on the dry side but still awesome. Corn muffins and baked beans 5 star. Great selection of sauces including ENC vinegar based. Will definitely be back.
