What a nice little dosa restaurant! Nicely decorated and clean. Our server, Gaurav was beyond nice and so very helpful with recommendations! The chili lotus root and chicken appetizers were interesting but too sauce for me. Since we were on a mission to find the best dosas in the city, we had to try! Had the masala, mysore, palak paneer, and the masala with amul cheese. All pretty good, good size but they were not quite as crispy as we like. Very good and recommend! Took off a star due to the dosas not being the best we’d had but also found the music too loud making conversation for the 5 of us a bit challenging.

Authentic South Indian flavours, excellent vegetarian dishes, and thoughtful spice guidance. Jaimin’s recommendations were spot-on.

Annam South Indian Restaurant in Edmonton delivers a truly authentic and memorable dining experience, especially if you enjoy traditional South Indian vegetarian cuisine done with care and confidence.

A special thank you to Jaimin, the front-of-house restaurant manager, whose recommendations were excellent from start to finish. His guidance on spice levels was spot-on — mild was perfect even for some who can usually enjoy medium to hotter spice. Balanced, flavourful, and never overwhelming.

We started with homemade South Indian vegetarian samosas, which were fresh, crisp, and deeply satisfying. The Mysore Rava Masala Dosa was a highlight — beautifully textured, aromatic, and full of authentic flavour. We also enjoyed the Hakka shrimp fried rice, which was well-executed and complemented the meal nicely.

To finish, the sweet pongal was outstanding — made with simple, natural ingredients like lentils, and served warm with a comforting, pudding-like texture. A quietly incredible dessert that felt both authentic and nourishing.

Overall, the meal felt thoughtfully prepared, rooted in tradition, and shared with genuine hospitality. A wonderful place to explore South Indian flavours — whether you’re vegetarian, curious, or already a fan.

Visited this restaurant on a Thursday afternoon and had a really pleasant experience. I ordered the idly and onion uttapam, and both were absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. The service was great too; the staff even checked if we needed extra chutney, which was a nice touch.

The place was clean, well-maintained, and the food arrived quickly, which made the experience even better. Overall, from ambience to service to taste, everything was on point. Definitely a place I’d recommend visiting if you’re in Edmonton and craving authentic South Indian flavors!

I recently visited Annam South Indian Restaurant with a friend for a relaxed evening out, simply to catch up over good food. Since it’s a South Indian restaurant, dosa felt like the obvious choice. I ordered the rava dosa, and my friend went with a similar dosa option.

The dosas were generously sized, beautifully crisp, and had a satisfying potato filling inside. The texture was spot on—thin, crunchy, and well-cooked. They served the dosa with two chutneys and sambar, and when we requested an additional mint chutney, they happily provided it along with one of their house-special chutneys, which was a pleasant surprise. The sambar itself was excellent—flavorful, comforting, and clearly freshly prepared.

Before the dosa arrived, we tried one of their appetizers, which turned out to be medu vada—a traditional South Indian fritter shaped like a ring or doughnut. It was crispy on the outside, soft inside, and served with mint chutney and sambar. It was easily one of the highlights of the meal.

What really stood out was the cleanliness of the restaurant. The dining area and washrooms were spotless, and I especially appreciated the separate hand-washing sink outside the washroom, which felt thoughtful and hygienic. The service was excellent—one of the staff members, possibly the manager, checked in with us multiple times to make sure everything was good. Because of that attentive service, I asked for extra sambar, which they provided free of charge.

Overall, it was a warm, welcoming experience with great food, excellent hygiene, and genuinely caring service. I’d definitely recommend Annam for authentic South Indian cuisine and a pleasant dining experience.

The food is authentic and the lunch combo on weekdays is a complete thali, which is excellent. We really enjoyed it, especially the plantain bajji. The customer service is also good.
