Came to see what the mixed reviews were about. It seemed clear after a few bites.

After my first few bites of their staple Hainan chicken, I started to understand. I didn’t dislike the taste but I didn’t love it. Its quite an acquired one that reminded me of how my friends Malaysian mom used to make it. It’s not savoury, fried, or salty chicken, it’s herbed and lightly seasoned, much more healthy.

Another thing that could cause a difference in opinion is definitely the bone. I personally experienced eating the bone before, but as an American, I could understand why people don’t like it.

This place is okay, I think it’s worth trying at least once but after that, it’s up to you if you like it to come back.

Charming spot. Flavorful chicken rice dish served in humbled brown paper wrap- a nice touch. Char Kway Teow is simply delicious. Burrata Paratha is tasty- its Roti is fresh and crunchy. Server is kind and friendly.

1st time eating here, I ordered three meats (Hainan chicken, BBQ chicken, and BBQ pork with rice. The the presentation of the dish well made. The taste is good on the meats and portion. I wish to have more rice and add more chicken oil into the rice. The chicken soup not enough chicken flavor. The menu is sample and just focus Hainan chicken as specialty.

Haven’t had proper chicken and rice since moving back from Asia last year. This was amazing… had the 2 meats of roasted chicken and roasted pork belly with the rice…

Delicious!

Portions were really big so completely over ate and enjoyed every bite.

This place is a 45 min subway ride from where I live (we were checking out green wood cemetery which is why we were nearby) … I would consider coming back here for Hainan Chicken again but def worth going if near by.

Proper wok hei, smoky and fragrant, with balanced savory flavors that hit just right. Crispy curry puff I always come back for

We don’t usually leave reviews at all, because people have different taste buds, unless we think the restaurant is over hype like this one. Came here for lunch with my wife and daughter based on the reviews, and ordered their signature House Hainan chicken with rice, Char Kway Teow and Crispy fried fish Head mee Hoon, also Malaysian White ice Coffee and coconut water. The so called house Hainan Chicken is absolutely bland and is just an over boiled chicken, all those people that left five stars reviews for the Hainan Chicken obviously never eaten Hainan chicken elsewhere, especially there’s one review saying it’s even better than Singapore’s Hainan Chicken, are you serious? The only dish we think it’s “okay” is the Char Kway Teow – 炒粿條。The two drinks that we ordered were so diluted my wife can’t taste any coffee, as for the coconut water, I would say it’s just an ice water. Not recommended, there are better Malaysian with Hainanese chicken in NYC.

Glad to check off this bookmark… whole experience is “OK la”. Me & NYT guy don’t seem to match well in taste… and that’s ok bc we come from different background. Don’t ever eat for others, eat for your own enjoyment lol

Service is ok, seating, menu, order, food and self serve on hot tea & water. Cute bundle for the Hainan chicken rice but not eco friendly.. can’t recycle the waxy paper.

Food: Hainan Chicken is alright, wish the meat & skin was smoother… still think LYK at Urban Hawker does it better. Their char siu is not my cup of tea, I prefer the Cantonese style version. Curry chicken was too water down, my son wished it had more kick to it. The Nasi Lemak was ok. Husband says the rice had good flavor. In fact, the only thing we enjoyed was the chicken flavor rice that comes with the meal. Chicken satay was chewy. And hard pass on the Malaysian milk tea, tasted like water. We had really good milk tea in KL and Singapore and have yet to find a spot that replicates the taste. Highly doubt anyone is pulling the tea. But at least other Malaysian spots make a better version than here. Total bill about $115 w/ gratuity. Can’t imagine returning for their $17 combo meal but maybe if in the area… try their noodle.

I have to come back here to try the rest of the menu. I had the Hainanese chicken and pork—both were absolutely fire. Tender and flavored. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the chicken rice too and could probably eat it by itself. We also got this curry dish and it was so delicious as well.

Only tiny downside: the ube flan looked gorgeous but the cake part was dry and didn’t really taste like ube. Still, I’d 100% come back just for that chicken alone.

Servers were super nice too!

This place have good food and services. We came here almost the end of their operation hours but despite that we passed the time, the staff didn’t push us to leave to pay the bill immediately.

The Hainan chicken over rice is good compared to other in town. The chicken is cooked right.
The Milk Tea is a must! Delicious and smooth.
Satay chicken is tasty and mild spicy with the sauce. Great taste
Seafood noodle is spicy and the broth has a strong taste. I wish I can be a little less spicy and I don’t like the spell as much.

Will try this place again next time.

Best Hainan chicken which surprised me. Chicken is tender, rice is soft and delicious. I also ordered one togo, but the soy sauce is different with the one when I dine in. If they give the same soy sauce, that would be perfect
