In 2024, Gymkhana was awarded Two Michelin stars for its classic Indian cuisine, after its first star in 2014. 42 is Gymkhana’s cocktail lounge, located at 42 Albemarle Street – where Gymkhana also resides. Reviews
A special thank you to our amazing waiter, Dhiraj, whose hospitality truly elevated our evening. He was attentive, warm, and made us feel so welcome. His recommendations were spot on and added to the overall experience.
From the ambiance to the impeccable service and unforgettable food, everything was outstanding. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!
The flavours are so bold and strong.
Loved the salmon and world famous butter chicken.
Can’t recommend enough if you can get the reservation.
We had the lunch set menu.
My partner is ga-ga over the kheer.
We’ve been coming here since the restaurant first opened in 2013 and have seen it go from strength to strength.
The set lunch menu is superb. Fantastic, flavoursome, well spiced food, and lots of it too.
Service was both professional and friendly, with the dining room maintaining the positive vibe it’s always had.
A lovely lunch. We will be back again soon, no doubt.
Always fully booked
If walk in u might get the bar counter table downstairs if lucky
Atmosphere is beautiful high end bond street type of luxury restaurant decoration
Staff are very nice and attending
Good service
Good. Prob something people can debate.
I had the famous Lamb Chop and Butter chicken curry and bread and rice
Well. In general it’s salty to me
Especially the lamb
Chicken. I feel just a bit over cooked so texture is a bit rough on my dishes. Taste and curry ok
So, it’s not the best Indian food I had in town but ok
It’s expensive in someway
Not bad experience
Getting a reservation is very difficult, but we finally managed to secure one and enjoyed a truly memorable family dinner. From the very beginning, the service was flawless. Our waiter did an incredible job, and there was also someone we believe to be the service leader, Denzel, who delivered an outstanding level of attention with amazing recommendations that elevated the entire experience.
Every single dish was delicious. The entire menu is absolutely recommended. All the sauces taste incredibly fresh, clearly made daily, full of depth and balance. The way they cook the chicken and the lamb is exceptional. We are not usually lamb eaters, but this was without a doubt the best lamb I have ever had in my life. Perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor.
The salads, cocktails, and desserts were all outstanding. Not a single dish disappointed us. Every bite confirmed the level of excellence this restaurant delivers.
Gymkhana is not just a dinner, it is a complete gastronomic experience. An absolutely recommended, extraordinary place with exceptional food, service, and consistency. A restaurant that truly stays with you and one you will always want to return to.
The butter chicken was rich and flavourful, and the bread basket complemented everything beautifully. The aloo chaat starter was another highlight incredibly tasty and the perfect way to start the meal.
We also tried the Goat Methi Keema and Salmon Tikka, which were slightly saltier than our preference not bad by any means, but we personally prefer a milder seasoning. The Falooda dessert was decent but not particularly memorable compared to the rest of the dishes. For that reason, we would rate the food 4/5 overall, while still acknowledging that several dishes were outstanding.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. They took the time to explain each dish as it was served, which added a thoughtful touch to the whole experience. We were there for a birthday celebration and to our surprise, they brought out a birthday cake and a greeting card such a lovely gesture!
Overall, we left very happy. Great food, great service and a memorable experience. It is slightly on the expensive side, but definitely worth trying at least once. Highly recommended!
Overall, quite enjoyed the experience. Don’t think I would personally rate 2 Michelin stars, albeit not able to try full tasting menu. Would say to expect Gymkhana to be like an Indian Carbone, good 1 star w/ elevated classics done well in a nicer modern atmosphere. Service was great, front desk had fastest phone charger I’ve ever used at a restaurant.
The food was good, but for a 2-Michelin-star restaurant, it felt simpler than we expected. The space is quite small, with tables very close together, which made the seating a bit uncomfortable and limited table space for the dishes.
Service was pleasant, and while the pricing is expected for a Michelin restaurant, the overall experience didn’t quite feel worth it for us. We truly wanted to love it, but it didn’t fully meet our expectations for such a special occasion.
