So over the years we came here quite often to eat. The food is really great. We often take fried chicken (dak dalkomhan) with rice or pad Thai. Both meals are mostly really good. The bao buns weren’t our taste, but the gyoza are also tasty.
Which bothered us, especially the last two times, is the service.
So disrespectful and unfriendly. The first time the waitress ignored us, didn’t took our order properly and talked to us like trash. And then she really expected some tips? For that shitty service.
The second time there was another waitress with an annoyed attitude and also didn’t bother to take our order. We also waited so long to pay, even after we reached out to her.
Just search for good servers. They make such a big difference.

I had a wonderful meal at East Canteen. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy and charming. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options. I ordered the Tonkatsu and Ramen — both dishes were absolutely tasty. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a nice, relaxed place to enjoy a good meal!

Big serving and within the usual price range. We ordered gyoza, takoyaki, Korean fried chicken and tonkatsu. I didn’t really like the tonkatsu – it was overcooked. You can see in the photo below that it had turned to dark brown color (very far from what a tonkatsu really looks like). I’d recommend the Korean fried chicken though.

I visited this place for the first time yesterday, and I came back again today. The food was excellent, fresh, original, and very authentic. Yesterday, I had three dishes, and today I had four – all of them were really good, especially the coconut panna cotta dessert, which I would rate 100/10. It was a perfect combination of all the elements you would expect in great gastronomy.
The staff were professional and helpful both days, yet naturally friendly – every single one without exception. A special thank you goes to Miss “Miora” (I really hope I spelled that correctly), a very kind and genuinely lovely person.

We arrived in Strasbourg around 1:30 pm, when most restaurants close after lunch. We were a little worried that we wouldn’t eat, but East Canteen on Orphelins Square was our salvation. They do interesting Asian cuisine here (Thailand, Vietnam, Korea). The food we ordered was delicious. It was also a hit with our three kids, who usually have objections when something is too spicy. We sat at a table outside and there was a nice atmosphere. The service was friendly and quick. A bonus for the kids was the ability to move to the playground on the square right after the meal.
