I’ve heard about how good Esterley’s is since moving up to the area. I finally had lunch with my new friends here. I was surprised how many of us had never eaten here. We drive by often but never have time to stop.
The cheesesteaks which they are known for are stuffed full of meat and cheese. And yes it is really good. I took my own salad and ranch just in case they only serve iceberg lettuce which is what they have. I requested the meat separate from the roll because I love a good cheesesteak salad. They delivered a soup bowl FULL of meat and cheese. It was delicious. I ordered a large. They bagged the roll separately which I appreciated. It was good to. Thank you!!!
I tried the French fries knowing I would only eat a few and then reheat the rest in my air fryer later. We do get a lot of them. They were so good I ate a lot more than I normally would.
It was very nice of them to let us all order together and then separate out the bills to pay at pickup 10 minutes later. My friends really liked the onion rings, fried mushrooms, and burgers. My husband was very surprised at how much meat and cheese was in the large cheesesteak i took home for him to eat later.
I checked and the hamburger BBQ aka sloppy joes does NOT have peppers in it!!! I’ll try it next time.
Thankfully the weather was beautiful which made it nice for sitting at one of the 3 picnic tables out front. They had a lot of call ahead orders for pickup.
Not an easy place for seniors to eat as you park along a busy highway and have to walk through grass to get there safely.

This is a take out place only very small indoor waiting area orders usually take less then 10 minutes the prices are low because they don’t have a large overhead. This is a hidden gem that you may drive by everyday. A must stop and try

The food is really good. Steaks are filled. I’ve been there twice, got the regular cheese steak, and the mushroom one. Both were really good. Service is good but really to the point. Make sure you know what you want before you go up to the counter. Parking is on the main road, so just watch out lol.

I ate here yesterday for lunch. Super nice staff and the cheese steak was awesome. Great pricing also.

This was a great find! Just a tiny hole-in-the-wall place. The cheese steak didn’t take long and hit all the notes a Philly should: tasty tender steak, soft and crunchy roll. Perfect amount of cheese. There’s plenty to read on the walls about how Esterly’s steaks have travelled the world. Take time to read about their trip up Mt Kilimanjaro!

I have visited many times. The cheesesteaks and meatball sandwiches are my favorite. Portion sizes are very good.
Physically this place is anything but glitter and doesn’t need to be. It is about good food. Easy to drive past but that would be a mistake.
Take out but there is a picnic table outside. There is also a park nearby to enjoy your food.

Esterly’s Mertztown, PA. 3rd generation cheesesteak makers. These cheesesteaks have been around the world. I love this area. This is a converted house. I am 90% certain that the grill room use to be someone’s bedroom. It is the ‘no grease’ cheesesteak. The ‘no grease’ makes it a great traveling cheesesteak. $5.90, yes $5.90. At $5.90, if you live in this area you are wasting money if you don’t eat here every night. It had the Pennsylvania Dutch soft roll. That is a very good change-of-pace roll. Sneaky good amount of meat for $5.90. Very good amount of cheese and very good cheese melt. With ‘no grease’ you can really taste the meat and the cheese. Nice sauce and I like the big chunks of fried onions but I wish they were mixed in with the meat & cheese. Overall, very good cheesesteak. @Mikeyyyeatz did a very good job.

I visited the area, and I couldn’t purchase a meal. Cash only. It’s my fault for not checking. But, I may have been better off. Visually not appealing and had a weird smell. Someone recommended and, by all means, I don’t know why. I tried to call ahead, and the person kept saying, sauce and pickle! I said no, and I’ll stop by to order. Fortunately, I had no cash and there was no atm, cause my eyes said no once I arrived.
