Al Gulzar Restaurant situated close to Jama Masjid Metro Gate-1 near Meena Bazar is one of the decent pocket friendly restaurants serving Mughlai and Tandoor foods in that area
The restaurant comes up with a Non-AC seating area at the ground floor while a spacious AC seating area with family space on the upper deck floor. They have a simple menu where you can pick your desirables. Strangely, they don’t serve Mutton Biryani which was a little upsetting. Choosing from their simple menu, the food was served in short duration with decent quantity for one person maintaining the quality of the food. The meat dishes we ordered were cooked well and tasted satisfactory. The staffs were decent there too to cooperate with you
Overall, a nice experience here for the first time in Jama Masjid area serving budget oriented food with hygiene amidst the crowded ambience. Would recommend others to definitely try out here if you are visiting Jama Masjid area for Mughal and Tandoor cuisine !!

This story is of July 2024. The food was really good. We went the first day, and we were very happy because the food was really good.
The owner/manager came to us and he asked us to leave a Google review. And he was slightly putting on indirect pressure to do it on the spot and so we did. And we put on 4 stars, but he was like “please give us 5 stars”, which was very a very awkward interaction. But the food was still really good.
It was so good that we decided to go the next day. Then myself and some of my friends came but we were waiting for some other of our friends to come. So we were unfortunately asked to leave the sitting area and we were asked to sit in a place which is in front of the door. Still acceptable, since our friends were taking some time. But we really wanted to sit on the 2nd floor. The person said something along the lines of “okay sure. Let’s wait till your friends come. Then I’ll look into it”.
Then our friends came, and the manager straight up rejected to allow us to sit in the 2nd floor in a rude way. It was rude. I am not exaggerating tho. The 2nd floor was completely empty. But he just outright rejected in a rude manner. Even after that, we tolerated him and we sat down to eat. But then the thing we wanted to order was not there. So we just left. We would have ordered something else, but his rude behaviour was not worth it. I hope that he keeps his cool throughout different scenarios and don’t enforce things of customers.

Al Gulzar is definitely the best Mughlai restaurant in Delhi. It is located in Jama Masjid, in the Muslim area of old Delhi. Situated on the main road, it is a restaurant that serves typical Persian cuisine. This is my second visit here and I must say it never disappoints! Delicious food and impeccable service, despite the restaurant being always busy. Some of the dishes that I highly recommend trying are the chicken butter tandoori, chicken mughali, khameeri roti and for dessert, the delicious almond kheer!

The food is not great average at best , had mutton nihari and chicken afghani and mutton kebab roll and some roti. Nihari was bland with little spicy and chicken afghani was at least average and roll didn’t have anything just rumali rote and kebab folded together with no seasoning. I don’t whether the restaurant was like this or together was something else won’t go again.

Very good, I want to add some some changes. We have ordered chicken lolipop but there was some hard, it should be soft but test was good. Mutton Nihari was excellent. Chicken tikka was excellent , chicken seekh kabab was excellent, roti was excellent, service and staff was good.. onemore thing which is not good space, it’s was very congested..

First look, as you reach the restaurant and look at the restaurant from outside you can see both the floors as it has glass at the front and fully lit ambience inside.
On ground floor you will find small sitting area in comparison to the first floor. There is a female washroom too at ground floor near washbasin and behind the counter.
As you reach on first floor, you will find a huge sitting area. Separate are for family or large gathering. Restroom facility for male/female both. Washbasin for handwash.
Manager and staff are cooperative. We usually visit 4 friends and out of two are veg. But they are fond of veg. options they get here, Dala Makhani & Paneer. Both are yummy. And ver tried chicken Biryani, chicken korma, naan, rumali, khamiri roti, everything is upto the mark and we enjoyed each time we visited there.
Our average bill is around 300 per person.
Location: jama masjid metro station is just at a walking distance from the restaurant and it’s located near Qureshi, famous for its kababs.

Muglai food with authentic taste at nominal price is served here. Place is quite with basic facilities and great service. I forgot my phone here while having lunch but the staff kept it safe with them till I visited again to look for it

We had Chicken mughlai (half) with khameeri roti , rumali roti- good in taste .
Chicken barra ( half) was also good .
The portion size was enough for two people with good appetite.
Washroom and handwash area was clean.
Service was a bit slow at times though. Enough seats and payment through both cash and online.
