I’ve tried several times to get a membership to no avail. It’s always the wrong day or they are out of cards. They have mature and welcoming customers but I can’t call it a crowd. I thought being motorcycle cool might help get me in, but no. I’m not cool enough. They seem to cater to staff from other bars and restaurants. I look forward to seeing their closure and something more inclusive taking that space. In the meantime, walking in may or may not get you served. Don’t travel far to see.

I had been coming here for almost 10 years but had recently moved away. I came back to meet up with some old friends and figured the bartender could just look me up or I could just buy a new membership. However, when they couldn’t find my name I was told that I couldn’t even get a new one because they were out of cards and so we had to leave. Not sure if something changed but I don’t remember ever actually needing a physical card and, if that was the case, why did the bartender even bother looking up our names in the first place? The bartender was very nice and this is not a reflection on her but I was incredibly disappointed. I understand the reasons behind having a membership but if physical cards aren’t required, you shouldn’t just let business walk out. I felt like I lost an old friend that night.

My boyfriend and I are in town for some military training and just searched for places to go have a drink decently close to our hotel. We did not realize they were members only, but we explained we were from out of town and they were so welcoming! The bartender and more then one person offered to sponsor us for the night. The bartender was wonderful! Great experience all around.

Don’t waste your time going in there, the place is a dump. The pool tables are the same tables from the 1960s. The bathrooms, bar, inside building has never been upgraded and probably never will.
The late night bartender with long hair always has an attitude with everyone. The bouncer with no hair is straight racist and just like the long hair bartender extremely inappropriate.
They scammed people into buying a membership but never upgrade the building and pretend their bar is like Savage….which is not even close…..
No one thought that Newbrokland Tavern would ever leave that area but they did. State Street is next especially with those two working there. Long hair bartender and dumb no hair bouncer if you hate your job that bad find another job!

Membership Only! Not sure if I just missed the advertisement for that but be warned you will be immediately turned away without a membership. I was not offered the opportunity to buy one. They also no longer do live music as I was informed by the bartender.

This rating may be a little unfair so I recommend you check out other reviews. This is a private bar and you can only get a membership the first of each month. This is very inconvenient for most. The only reason I rated it as high as I did was because the gentleman that met us to explain the policy was very professional and polite. They do have billiards and seemed to have a laid back atmosphere from what I could tell.

Fantastic bartender, cheap good beers, awesome specials. Met a lot of really cool patrons. People were friendly and inviting. Very relaxed, local place for a drink. Will be my go-to when I’m in Lexington from here on out!

Tried to get a drink here before The New Brookland Tavern opened but the State Street Pub is a private club. Since no one in our party was a member we couldn’t get served. Nothing against the place…looks pretty nice. The bartender was nice but the law is the law and we understood why we could not get drinks there. I’ll give them three stars and if in the future I ever get a membership I’ll re-rate.
