This place is fantastic. I’ve been coming here for over a decade. If you are expecting the cook to flip shrimp in his hat or do a little dance then you should go somewhere else. Where they charge you triple or quadruple the price. However, if you’re looking for really good sushi at a terrific price at a family run restaurant then this is your place. Some of the negative reviews I’ve seen are just ridiculous. I’m not sure what these privileged people are expecting. The restaurant is clean. The food is delicious. The family who runs it are incredibly polite and do their best to provide a great experience. I’ve never had an issue here and I’ve literally eaten at this restaurant at least a hundred times if not more. Like I said, If you’re looking for a song and dance then you’re more than welcome to go to Perkins Road and pay $200 for sushi. If you’re looking for good food and a nice quiet and quaint location then Sushi Village is the perfect place.

There are many sushi restaurants in Baton Rouge. However, I consistently choose Sushi Village and have always been satisfied. I find the prices to be excellent for the quality of service and food provided. They are always prompt with preparing my orders, and the chefs do an excellent job with the sushi. I enjoy trying different rolls every time I visit, and I have yet to come across a roll I did not enjoy. I encourage you to try sushi village!!

We went on Valentine’s Day. The food was amazing, but the food took absolutely FOREVER to come out. We were there for about two hours waiting on food. No, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Don’t get the cucumber rolls.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for well over a decade. I think I might be closer to 15 years. I used to come in once a week until I moved to New Orleans. Now I make it a point to at least come back once a month if not more. I absolutely love this place. Best sushi in Baton Rouge for the money. It’s a small family run operation. I’ve literally watched all three of their kids grow up. Super nice people. The food isn’t fancy. It’s not going to come with sparklers or some other craziness, but that’s not why you’re here. You’re here for good sushi and that’s what they provide. I made a special trip to Baton Rouge today just to eat here and see a friend of mine. Highly recommend this place for the value as well as the taste. A perfect place for a casual date. One of only four restaurants I go back to when I am in Baton Rouge.

Amazing service but my classmate food looked way better than mine and it was kind of nasty the California roll had wasabi in the last two pieces , the crawfish roll was also disappointing I enjoyed the sweet potato roll even tho the potatoes were hard but hopefully next time would be better

Me and my boyfriend had come here a while back, and I do not understand the rating of this place. The man that took our order was nice but rushed us when we were the ONLY people in the restaurant. My boyfriend ordered two rolls which were both variations of crab rolls, which he ate and finished. I ordered a roll with tuna and another with salmon. They were so horrible i gagged trying to eat them. I ended up getting a box for the roll that was slightly better and the woman who brought me it was very rude and made a comment about me not taking both rolls. (I never tried to eat the roll I took home)

Food was ok, what we had was pretty standard sushi, so it’s hard to really make a bad version. However the house roll is not something I would recommend. Presentation is great, but the uncooked fish at the top was completely unappealing to me. Sliced too thick, ended up being chewy. I took all of the fish off and enjoyed the rest of the roll.
The reason for the 2 star review is the staff. We walked in at 6:30 on a Monday, to find an employee sleeping on a table just a few feet from the entrance. Stayed asleep while we were seated and got our drinks, and finally stood up when I went back to the door to look at the specials. She would periodically go back to sleep, and walk through the dining room.
The kicker for me not to come back, is at the end of the meal, she came to pick our plates up, and bluntly asked why I didn’t eat the fish, instead of asking if the dish was okay.

Sushi Village is a quaint restaurant. Although music is non existent and there is not much color, the Feng shui is awesome. It’s set for families to come in and be a part of their family’s dining experience.
The atmosphere is quiet and pleasant and the food is great. Each roll was beautifully presented and needed no additional flavors. The hibachi steak add shrimp was dig-in delicious. The dragon roll was shaped like a dragon and the flavor was phenomenal. The owner asked us our favorite roll out of the 5 or 6 we ordered and although the Hawaii roll was refreshing, that LSU roll was divine….gonna definitely go back and try that Mardi Gras roll.
You can tell that this spot is family-oriented, I love the fact that they incorporate each other in making the dream work. Next time I’ll do dessert cause I was honestly stuffed to say my fiance was calling himself taking all his favorite women (me and our daughters) for a snack. I was good from noon till night. Don’t go in there thinking sushi light and play play….you won’t be disappointed.

Sit down and take a load off, pull up a chair and take out a menu. And don’t disrespect the owners asking for seasoning, they cooked it how you like it, and if they didn’t, they did.
