There aren’t too many 24/7 eateries in Northwestern Indiana. Fortunately, The Wheel is a solid choice when one is hungry at anytime of the day! The food tastes good, prices fair, and service as good as one may expect from a casual, community oriented sit down restaurant . My salad was nice and crisp. My reuben sandwich was juicy and tender!

I’ve literally ordered the same thing 3 times from here which is a vegetarian omelette with feta cheese with hash brown casserole. And each time there has been no feta cheese or hash brown casserole. Like is the cook ok or what? This is what I was sent. If I’m paying to have someone make my food how I asked why is it being ignored? Just giving people whatever.

So we hadn’t been to the wheel in years and all I can say is it was sadly disappointing. Ordered two lemon rice soups that tasted more like a paste of rice and was served cold. We got our entrées one was chicken Vesuvio and was served with one potato and a gravy poured over a chicken breast fillet that didn’t taste anything Italian or even hot kitchen style. Also they did offer dessert and we took our half eaten food and brought home a slice of what looked like a slice of coconut pie but was under cooked crust with again a pasty filler that traditionally is just served with whipped cream. This isn’t a bash to your establishment but awareness to staff and ownership. I have patron your restaurant and I can’t help think it must be under new management because other than the obnoxious previous manager who would openly discipline wait staff in public and make us uncomfortable. But the food and service was always great! What we experienced today was such a disappointment especially after getting home from a long days work and making the effort to drive out in this weather was heartbreaking. I hope this doesn’t get taken out of context. The next time we visit the restaurant we hope the food and desserts and held to the old wheel standards meaning exceptional. Wish you guys great success and are open to some constructive criticism. Thank you for listening to my rant.

The pros definitely outweigh the cons (which aren’t actually cons at all) when dining at The Wheel Family Restaurant, which is open 24 hours a day.

Basically a 4 course meal for most of its menu options, the generous portions will leave the majority of us full, satisfied, and in need of a to-go box.

The atmosphere is typical of a diner style and the prices are exceptionally reasonable. Can’t speak for all, but MY server was so great that I tipped her about 50%.

If I absolutely HAD to include a con, it would have to be my desire for my entree to have been more seasoned. But I guess that’s what the salt and pepper shakers are there for, right?

Had chicken Vesuvius and country breakfast. The soup that came with the meal could have filled me up. The soup was not over salted and needed a little bit with some pepper to be perfect. The rolls were airy and paired well

Ordered my food. Asked for eggs over medium and cut into then and the white part s all clear like they weren’t cooked all the way thru. EVERYTHING on both my plate and my sons were ice cold. Called the manager over about it. The food came back and it was STILL cold. I want going to complain a 2nd time as I didn’t think it would matter to the cooks…. SMDH. I just said told my son I’ll just take it home. Ate the French toast. Our Server was FANTASTIC. I told her my talking to the Mgr had nothing to do with her service. She was working really hard as it was busy.

The atmosphere was busy (as it was a Sunday). You get in and a random person (a guest) told us to get in line for the cashier….I guess I was looking for a host. There was a lot going on in that small space it would be a good idea to have another staff host person their to guide people to their seats because if everyone who is paying their bill and people waiting to be seat are in one line can get hectic…Maybe hire a host to work during the weekends?

Their waitress was wonderful, kind and attentive. Food was alright, average breakfast. I had a broccoli feta omelette with toast. My husband had a Cesar salad and veggie soup. We went to this place because my mother is from around there and the family has went for years and I get that. I like the down to earth vibe and the prices. However, I would highly recommend, adding more vegetarian options. Avocado toast, more veggie salads and soup and veggie burger and sandwiches would be great too. Optional too would be to look into doing creative things with mushrooms. Your business has done very well for so long, I only hope to see it evolve for generations that are seeking healthier options. Thank You!

Last night my husband and I had dinner at the wheel and we were happily accompany by our waitress Haley. She made us feel very welcomed and was extremely fast past and kind. Haley checked in with us periodically to make sure we had everything we need and very generous with the dinner rolls they offer there. The food was hot and delicious and we can’t wait to come back here again.

Gia, was the best, there was an unhappy guest. Gia and I another employee was facing an unhappy Gia was calm and patient this early in morning and extremely cold, but satisfied her and she was happy and onher and everything returned back to normal!
