Spacious, airy eatery serving upscale Mexican cuisine in an old-world setting with outdoor seating.

People come here for the drinks and ambiance. The food is good if you know what to order. I loved the cheese they used on the quesataco. Not too greasy and delicious. The poblano dip was SO good and the à la carte tacos were good as well. I’m not a fan of overpriced Tex mex, but if you know what to order you will have a great time here. The kids loved the playground

Justin was very helpful in making suggestions as we had never been here before. The enchiladas, steak, and puffy tacos were great. Soo much food, too much to eat at once. The atmosphere was really cool too. We sat outside on the patio and didn’t regret it. There was a guy playing some live music, which was nice.

Very spacious area for large groups, 1st time visit with family from outside the USA. They wanted authentic Mexican food. Viola’s Ventanas was just that flavor and taste we were looking for, the live entertainment, meeting the owner as he walked around the bldg, very friendly staff. Also very delicious food and reasonably priced for large parties. We stayed at Hyatt resort just down the road which had a recommended sheet in our room.

We went to Viola’s Ventanas expecting some Tex-Mex comfort food – enchiladas and chips and queso. What we got was so much more. We started on recommendation from the staff with the Queso Flamedo. Little did we know that it would be cooked with fire in a cast iron skillet at our table. This resulted in a queso that was so thick that is required a tortilla and not chips, but man was it so delicious! What a unique experience! Then came our entrees. I got the Enchiladas En Mole, and I found it delicious. In short, we not only enjoyed our meal but thought it exceeded our expectations, and would definitely come back here if in the area again.

Hubby and I arrived in San Antonio this week today and Viola’s Ventana’s was the first restaurant we went to. It. Was. Excellent. We started with margaritas which were delicious and we both got tacos – hubby ordered the puffy tacos with chicken and I ordered the blackened fish tacos. Both dishes were excellent! The server was attentive and all the staff were super nice. I have a lot of places to explore this week, but I can tell you that Viola’s is on my list to return to and recommend in the future.

If the food is as good as clean as these bathrooms are; then I hope the kitchen is clean as well.
We had a large party more than 30 people and only 1 waiter that was also serving 2 other tables. I hope they can hire staff to clean the restrooms and organize a 1 waiter to 10-15 guest policy. Took over and hour to get our drinks and food order put in. It’s not the waiters fault, it’s the fault of the business owner that likely isn’t paying their staff a fair wage to keep staff employed given I was told by management they are extremely short staffed.
It’s unfortunate and we won’t return given the large number of business we can choose from in such a large city.

Always had enjoyable experiences the few times I’ve been there, with delicious food, but this Friday totally changed my perspective on this establishment. Me and my family came on a fairly busy night and felt totally ignored because the service focused on certain group of people or social class. People were seated before us even after arriving later than us with no reservation, and when my family was seated we waited more than 15 with nobody coming to our table to check on us or take order, while other tables we’re tentatively taken care of, and served with a smile while us totally ignored. The only difference I can distinguish was skin complexion and maybe social status. I’m a blue collar man, who sometimes doesn’t have time to throw on best clothes for dinner but no excuse for the attire I have on, we shouldn’t be shunned for a good meal or service.

Horrible Food. They changed all the Mexican food to be some crazy version. Fideo has squash and chicken added. The rice has peppers in it. Everything has to be spicy or overly greased. Definition of TEX-mex. Do not recommend.

Overall, it was a nice experience. Our waitress was great, and the atmosphere was outstanding. One nuisance. There were fruit flies flying about.
However, the food was mediocre. Nothing amazing. We ordered the Parillada Platter ($99) for 6 and added the shrimp (+$20). Lots of food but not the highest quality. The short ribs were tough, pork chops & chicken were overcooked, and bacon was cheap. The beef fajitas, shrimp, and grilled onions were very good, though. So, I would recommend skipping this platter and opt for the fajita plate.
Also, I ordered a House margarita and my wife ordered Top Shelf one. Definitely avoid the House as it was watered down (see last 2 pics).
This restaurant has so much potential with its beautiful scenery and great service!

We were in town for a few days and this restaurant was on our hotel restaurant listing. The reviews looked great and it was close to our resort, so we gave it a try. The food, customer service and atmosphere were awesome!! We went during lunch time, so there was no wait. Yadira was very friendly, professional, attentive and kind. She provided everything we needed without us having to ask. The back patio, which I saw through our nearby window, was so inviting with beautiful flowers and fall decorations. It was really warm outside, so we chose an indoor table instead. We selected the fajitas for two and added shrimp. It was SO delicious!! Their Chile Con Queso and homemade chips were also soo delicious! We would certainly eat here again!!
