Cozy and kitchy with great good! Our large family of 6 did not fit well in this tiny diner (we had to sit at 2 tables next to one another) but if it was just my husband and I it would have been a cute date spot. I loved the selection of dirty sodas! I got the cherry limeade and it was wonderful.

I wanted to come here for over 3 decades now. I finally made it today. I was genuinely excited. Long trips in there car make me sleepy, but, driving here don Jacksonville was no problem. I lived their car cover port. It really adds to the ambiance of past diners. Their “Honk for service” sign was as great touch. I didn’t try it out because I wanted to go inside. The sign was over every car port on both sides so I think it’s real. I took pictures of the sign and outside Elvis. The whole restaurant is a metal RV cart type ordeal. The handle was telling of the hundreds of thousands of customers (maybe millions) who grabbed a meal here. Opening the door feel like a historical right os passage. I can’t help it if people who live nearby are used to frequenting this place. Fir me it has lived in memory in my “Bucket List”. It was a 55 minute adventure for me. So, I open the door and the wafting aroma of pancakes and burgers rolled out of there like nobody’s business. They’re about 20 people inside and I grabbed the seat farthest to the left. I was greeted within seconds. I didn’t even make it 3 feet in. They had 3 beautiful waitresses and they were juggling ordered. It felt like a step into the past. I love it already. I was given the menu and wanted to eat what their popular item was. I got the Black bottom. This burger was totally a surprise flavor. I need more of this in my life. The eggs and bacon mashed together in the burger was the best. I got a hot chocolate and French fries. This was a great mix. So nostalgic. I am so happy that I came here. I will come again.

It’s very retro and nostalgic. The food was great. It was our first time there and the owners came out and spoke to us, even took pictures of us to add for their own advertisement I think. I plan to go back and take more family and friends. They were steady and consistently busy-always a good sign. I tried frog legs for the first time and they did indeed taste a lot like chicken. Burgers were tasty and I loved their onion rings.

The food was delicious. I had a burger and onion rings. Both tasted and looked homemade. The onion rings weren’t the ones that all the other restaurants serve and had a distinct flavor. The food came out without much of a wait. There was a bit of a line at check out but it was also lunch rush and they were serving customers inside and juggling pick up orders.

I was very hesitant about dining here with it being so old and small. I pictured unsanitary conditions and overcooked greasy food. I was beyond wrong. In fact, I was so impressed I came back a second time within a week!
I will continue to make the 45 minute drive to this diner frequently, it’s that good! The fried chicken is juicy and the breading is dry and crispy, not greasy at all. The portions are nice! The chili is amazing, and the chili cheese fries are so good it feels like you have stepped back in time.
The atmosphere is truly nostalgic!! The staff are all friendly and attentive. I would give this place 10 stars if I could.

This landmark of North Central Florida is a must-visit restaurant. It is very small, so don’t go during crowded times. The entire restaurant is on a train car. There is limited parking and seating available, so you may need to wait. Prices are low and the food is authentic. We ordered milkshakes because we saw the old milkshake machines, where they are actually hand-turned. They have the best burgers in Palatka, but I go for breakfast. The interior is crammed, so don’t be offended. The bench seating needs to be replaced, and it hurts your butt. I didn’t get to see the bathrooms, but they make a genuine effort to ensure everything is clean. It is a unique experience, bring the kids while places like this still exist.

I had lived 30 minutes away from this place my entire life and I finally got around to visiting. It did not disappoint! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was so cool! I will definitely be returning!

Admittedly, we were there for a car show/cruise-in and it was all but full even though we arrived 45 minutes before the start time. We figured on a couple of milk shakes and that took a while due to it being a full house. Parking was obviously at a premium due to the show, but on a normal day, parking is usually plentiful. The shakes were good and I remember the food being good as well (we hadn’t eaten there in a LONG time. All in all, the nostalgia brings us back periodically and I’m glad they’re still there.

Visit the oldest diner in Florida, take picture and tell you friends about your experience. But most of all enjoy the diner style food. It was good and the friendly service was tops. Lots of fun and a great dining experience.
