Staff were great and the interior of the place was very nice. I thought the value was very good considering the quality, yes it’s not cheap but I don’t mind paying a bit more as long as the quality is good. There’s some steakhouses that I’ve been to in Manchester that charge more and are just for show with poor quality food.
I’ll definitely be returning.
I very rarely leave reviews, but I am absolutely gobsmacked by this experience.
I booked a table online on 3rd January after seeing a Facebook offer, which clearly stated “book online only.” I followed the instructions, booked online, and received a confirmation email for my reservation on 22nd January. This booking was for my anniversary meal.
On Saturday, I unexpectedly received an email advising that my table had been cancelled. I then called the restaurant to clarify what had happened, but the customer service was shockingly poor. I was told they had sent two emails asking me to confirm it was a Facebook offer — emails which I never received. When I asked for proof, I was told they came from OpenTable, but again, I did not receive them.
I was then told the booking would have been full price anyway because I hadn’t written “Facebook” in the comments and that this was my fault for not reading the T&Cs. For clarity, I would have happily paid full price — the issue is the cancellation and lack of communication, not the discount.
When I expressed how disappointing this was, I was cut off mid-sentence and the phone was put down on me. No attempt was made to resolve the issue, offer an alternative, or even apologise.
In a time where hospitality is struggling, customer service should be second to none.
This was the complete opposite — unhelpful, dismissive, and rude. I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone based on how this situation was handled.
The food is simply exceptional. The steaks are cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, with generous portions that leave you more than satisfied.
What really sets Galleon Steak House apart is the consistency — amazing food, great service, and a relaxed yet classy environment every single time. It’s the perfect spot for a special occasion.
Highly recommend to anyone in or around Chesterfield — once you visit, you’ll definitely be back!
Food – Fantastic food, easily the best steak around. We had various other sides which were equally as good. Desserts are tasty and excellently presented.
Service – Generally good, only knocked one star on service, as I’ve experienced friendlier staff who have gone the extra step to make you feel welcome – that being said service is still great and attentive.
Atmosphere – It’s a nice upmarket atmosphere without making you feel out of place.
Would recommend and return.
I haven’t given it all 5 stars as we came yesterday and the burger was so raw it tasted of metal and blood was pouring out of it. We did send it back and they re did it. My chicken kebab was nice but not amazing. Would have been great if there was a little more onion and pepper on it too. We come often and we did feedback this one off experience and had a polite reply. We understand things happen. Won’t put us off going again but we will stick to steaks and Sunday sharing boards (what they do best) Hopefully I won’t get a sarcastic or rude reply, reading others that left a bad review have done and I was shocked to the responses from the owners,sometimes errors are made and a polite response would suffice.
