I’m not sure why every place in this town other than the Mexican restaurants want to serve that boil-in-the bag/parboiled type rice, but if I’m going to pay for a $22 meal on a medium size plate, I want homemade rice.
My pasta was delish. The chicken was cooked just right, and the breading they used gave it a wonderful texture. It wasn’t too dry and was just right. The sauce was very good as well, but I’d have liked to tasted some more spinach in it, as well as the sauce. I felt like I was eating more noodles and trying to slop up the sauce from under every nook and cranny to go with the pasta, and there MAY have been 6 leaves of spinach. Both my sons chose chicken wings. I have to say that those are probably the best in town and were delicious. I’d come back just for those. I did have a side salad as well with my meal which I forgot to take a photo of that. It was a decent portion size for sure.
Atmosphere is very calm and pleasant.
I wanna start by saying that the steaks were cooked PERFECTLY. HOWEVER, they had ZERO flavor. It tasted like nothing but it was covered in plain butter. We would rather have a steak overcooked with good flavor than a perfect temp and no flavor.
The potatoes were cooked nicely but also bland. They gave my husband butter and sour cream for his sweet potato…
The service was amazing and fast! Staff were super friendly as well. We paid 65$ which isn’t bad but we wish the food wasn’t drowned in plain butter and no seasoning. Salt and pepper go a long way.
You rarely find good Louisiana Cajun food this far away from New Orleans, so this was a pleasant surprise. Definitely off the beaten path, but worth the drive into the country. I recommend this restaurant.
Came in with a table of 4. We each had something different as well as 3 appetizers. Unfortunately, they were put if the boudin balls but the fried calamari, the bang bang shrimp, and the alligator sausage are all fantastic. I really can’t say a single bad thing about our experience.
We wound uo taking 4 of their homemade desserts home. The Blueberry Cobbler, Lemon Cake, and 2 different cheese cakes. The pieces were huge and they were absolutely delicious.
This place is a must try if you’ve never been.
The parking lot was full, but I was on my bike and easily found a spot. I went in and was asked if I wanted to sit on the patio. It was a beautiful evening, so I said sure! I was told to head that way.
I picked a table near the back screen overlooking the lake and sat down. Shortly, my server came up and asked what I wanted to drink and I ordered a sweet tea. She left a menu, and I ended up choosing the filet with a baked potato all the way. (All the way consisted of butter, sour cream, bacon, and cheese.)
A little while later, she brought me my food. The steak looked great, but the baked potato had a cheese sauce and bacon poured over the outside of it. It was like they meant to pour it in the open potato, but it snapped shut as they did so. Needless to say, it was EXTREMELY messy getting it opened up so that I could put the butter and sour cream I side. The potato was warm but not hot enough to melt the butter. So I just mashed everything together and mixed it up. Even though it wasn’t hot, it tasted very good, however. My biggest gripe was using 5 napkins to clean my fingers after doctoring it up.
The steak, as I said, looked great. As I cut i to it, it was a bit more done than the medium rare I’d ordered (more a straight medium), but it was still very juicy, amazingly flavorful, and tender.
Overall, I had a good experience and will likely come back sooner than the last time (which was well over 14 years ago)!
