Yesterday was my first time trying this place after recommendations from friends in town. I ordered for delivery, and was pleasantly surprised at how great the portions were. I ordered the curry chicken (pint), my boyfriend ordered the general tso’s specialty platter, and we split a fried shrimp appetizer. I almost got a quart of chicken for myself… I’m glad I didn’t because the pint was more than enough!
The driver brought the food quick, and our meals were still steaming before we opened them. Everything was packaged very nice and neat, and they provided enough utensils and sauces. Our plates were delicious and flavorful. I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again.

When I’m in the mood for Chinese food, I come to China Star! I’ve been coming here for many years. The food is delicious and hot.
Chan is Awesome! He is attentive and friendly.
He knows me and what I usually order. He also gets the staff to prepare my food with a special order because I’ve informed him that I’m allergic to MSG. He discusses with me the options and food choices that I can have.

China Star’s online ordering is horrendous.
Multiple times my card was charged and no food was delivered.
The restaurant cites “ system is down”
But if my payment goes through, the system works well enough.
Lots of great Chinese restaurants nearby try them.
Leave China Star to their die hards.

First time ordering from them via UberEATS. The food was descent. What turned me off was the lack of utensils and napkins. That says a lot about their customer service and begs the question if they forget/skip a necessity like that, what other necessity(ies)they may have skipped preparing the food.

Spicy pineapple chicken and pork fried rice, RAW. This was a little over a year ago and my apologies for neglecting to share sooner. I’m sharing now in hopes I can save anyone from experiencing food borne illness caused by this negligent business. As this has clearly happened a multitude of times, to multiple customers. It happened to me on more than one occasion as well. Stay away from negligent food businesses like this, and stay safe!

I ordered my food via ubereats and got there to pick it up. They had a young girl at the front that looked too young to be working there and I said “hey I ordered via ubereats”. To where she replied” Oh so did you call in?” I said no “I used the ubereats app.” She then proceeded to ask me the same question three times. Finally someone from the back came to the front and said my order will be ready soon. I got my order they didnt even put napkins in the bag. The food was awful they put way too much sauce and made a mess with the way they packed it up. Save yourself a trip and some money take your business elsewhere.

First time I went to China Star in Belleville, I said to myself I will just order online from other Chinese take-out restaurants, but not here. The physical store is clean but people were unfriendly. Unlike other Chinese restaurants and take-out places I have gone in Clifton and Passaic, this place does not even come close. With the amount of food I ordered and the price I paid, in other Chinese take-out restaurants, they give me free soda; this store didn’t. The man taking orders appeared pissed off when he asked me what I want; not customer-oriented.

This Place Needs to Be Shut Down.
First of all, stop calling this the “#1 restaurant on Uber Eats.” That’s a joke. I used to order from here, but never again.
I got serious food poisoning from this place. The rice is always cold, stale, and barely a full portion. They take forever to make your food, and when it finally shows up, it’s garbage. Nothing fresh, nothing hot.
Worse than the food is the hygiene—if you can even call it that. I’ve seen the guy at the front literally pick up chicken wings that fell on the floor and put them back like it’s nothing. Same with dumplings. They never wear gloves—EVER. Not while making food, not while handling trash. It’s disgusting.
Last time I ordered fried dumplings and egg foo young, both containers were drenched in black, nasty oil. It looked like it hadn’t been changed in weeks. The whole bag was greasy.
This place is dirty as hell and honestly unsafe. Health department needs to pay them a visit ASAP. Shut it down.
