Tonight we ordered Twice Cooked Pork and Sizzling Happy Family. The Twice Cooked Pork sauce was unexpectedly sweet. The pork itself had good flavor and the pork fat was a plus. I should have known from the darkness of the sauce. The Sizzling Happy Family, however, was pretty good. Sizzling Happy Family sauce was not sweet and had a good flavor with fresh vegetables. Both dishes needed a little more temperature or heat to mitigate the hints of its refrigeration. Service was excellent and very prompt. The main reason for the three stars were the appetizer, Fried Wantons whose wrappers were undercooked with the filling being overcooked with an old-like taste and pasty texture.

They’ve always been our favorite for Chinese food in Boise and moving to Utah solidified it, like omg I wish I could find somewhere here who does egg rolls half as good. Also for some reason no other chinese restaurant does mushu pork?

The food here was good – I got the sweet and sour and was not disappointed. Same as the crab rangoons… they were so good. Potstickers were just as good! The service was good, but they did appear to be understaffed which is unfortunate for them. Portions are huge! Overall, good place, but there is another place i’d say is better

Only Dim Sum in town, and it’s pretty good! We’ve been wanting to come here specifically for Dim Sum, and they delivered. We had: Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Siu Mai, Sticky rice in Lotus Leaf, turnip cakes, braised tripe, and sesame seed balls.
Everything was tasty. The sesame seed balls were slightly overdone, but my favorite was the Siu Mai.
We will be returning. Thanks for having Dim Sum in Boise 🙂

the noodle can be different kind but I really liked the sauce.
Szechan beef was good.
Service is definitely slow and lacking as it took forever to order and the waitress didnt bothered to fill up our water. But the lady who cleaned up the table seemed professional.

The restaurant is very old and in need of modernization. Food is good (not great), prices are good. Soup rice was not cooked and very crunchy. Service is sooo slow and servers are inattentive. No water refills, no fork, took forever to clear our plates before courses. Bathroom was lacking paper towels. The restaurant was busy and we were not rushed, so that’s a plus!

The food was most excellent! Everyone enjoyed every item ordered. The service was also expectional. We will definitely return to try more dishes and have some dim sum.
Update. 6/26 was our fourth time or more back. This is our local go to spot for amazing food. We bring family from out of town here. We all love it so much.

Absolutely love Yen Ching! The food is always incredible — fresh, flavorful, and consistently perfect every time we visit. You can tell everything is made with care. The owner is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, and it really shows in the atmosphere and service. It feels like family every time we walk in. If you’re looking for amazing Chinese food and genuinely wonderful people, Yen Ching is the place. Highly recommend!
