Visited this place while I was waiting for a meeting at a local business. Food was absolutely outstanding. Real genuine cooking. Corn tortillas seemed to be crafted in house, and I had the fried chicken and smoked brisket tacos. The brisket was a little difficult to eat in taco form (nice big chunky bits on the tortilla) but it was so good I ate what fell out with my fingers. The chicken was fried to perfection, and left you wanting another. 10/10 will be returning within a few weeks guaranteed.

Our server was great. The Food was fantastic. I ordered a little of everything. I’m from Phoenix and just moved here. Felt like home. This isn’t Tex Mex. I will be returning.

Food was pretty good. I really liked the pork nachos. The fried chicken was good but not the best I’ve had in the area. The elote was a very good side. Tamales were ok. The staff was very polite and sociable, I enjoyed their conversations. Overall cool place to try out and judge yourself!

I tried the new location this restuarant on highway 280. Based on the previous review I tried the House Special Fried Chicken and guacamole and chips. Both were excellent.

This is not a typical Mexican restaurant so go with that knowledge in advance. No free chips and salsa here.

The menu had several choices for tacos and I will go back to try these on another visit.

The service hit and miss. At least 3 servers came by to check. Great right. The problem waa that none were around when I needed my drink glass refilled. This happened 3 times during the visit. So they have some room to improve with the newer staff. A small item in the grand scheme.

I am glad for something other than another fast food burger chain.

Check it out.

This place is okay. I don’t feel like it is a place where I would say, “I have to go back”. The salsa that is served with the chips is not good. I’m usually the one who would eat and get full off of chips and salsa, but after tasting the salsa I passed after a few. Which was disappointing. I ordered the nachos and was a little worried because of the salsa. But, the nachos turned out to be pretty good. The flavors were a good mix. The friends I went with agreed with the salsa (and we tried two types). They did enjoy their main meals.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND to those who want to try authentic Mexican with a slight twist of Southern American. I’ve been to many Mexican restaurants but this one is quite unique. It’s not completely Mexican authentic, it’s definitely not TexMex, and it’s not American Mexican. Their dishes are served in the most authentic forms in addition to some entrees and/or meats that are popular in the south incorporated into them. Those dishes are made especially for those who are not familiar with most of the common Mexican meals. This location allows visitors to try real Mexican cuisine with a touch of home. I’m a huge believer in authenticity in every dish that I eat, which is why I love that the best of both worlds, Southern food and Mexican cuisines, were combined to create this amazing place!

Really enjoyed this place. Friendly staff, open kitchen layout, and freshly made tortillas (to order) from flour or corn masa. Its cool that you can see them puff up right in front of you.

The best way I can describe this place is a southern food inspired, mexican restaurant. Imagine bbq meats with tex-mex toppings and salsas.

They have nice happy hour specials (3 to 6pm daily) and an interesting $2 special available all-day. The free chips and salsa are also a nice touch for the business traveler trying to triage the 100 emails he got during a face to face meeting….

Highly recommend the tacos. I plan on replicating the “oaxacan cheese steak” taco for my next dinner party. Pro-tip: use a fork and knife first to get the amount of taco filling down. Once it is around the 30 to 40% mark, eat the taco in handheld mode as is the norm.

2019 Update:
Do you like tamales? If so, highly recommend trying them here (see photos). As stated before, this place is amazing.

2022 Update:
Place is still awesome. If you are still reading this review, you should just go and try it yourself.

A little slow on receiving our food and drinks/refills for lunch. Staff was extremely friendly though. Smoked chicken was very flavorful, we all enjoyed it. Didn’t care for the verde salsa but the chips were perfect. Queso was worth getting as well. Not sure if it’s worth returning but maybe we will give them another try for dinner.

I try to find the good in everything and keep an open mind when dining out. But my experience here was all around bad. We had a bigger party, party of six. They put us in a party booth in the back which was plenty large for us. We ordered drinks and queso, the house margs were good but a little sour. We placed our order, I got the brisket grilled cheese and the disappoint was astounding. The cheese was so burnt. The waiter hardly ever checked in on us. My wife ordered the skirt steak fajitas and the skirt steak was cooked too fast so it was nearly burnt on the outside. When we ordered our food, we reordered drinks and the waiter did not bring them all. It just seemed super unorganized for a Saturday night food joint. I wouldn’t recommend it and I won’t be back.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. It’s been a while since we have eaten here and our food was delicious! Patio dining is PERFECT!!!! Birmingham sunsets are the best! Fried chicken is delicious and the supreme LD smoked chicken burrito were definitely the way to go.
