Came here Friday for lunch with friends. It was my first time here. It’s pretty much a la carte as you order at the bar as you enter, pay for your meal, and take your seat with your number; where they bring out your food to you. I ordered two tacos (lengua), street corn, refried beans & cheese, and a bottle of Coca Cola. The tacos were very good; the beef tongue is very tender. I kicked it up a few notches with their sauces at the sauce bar. The refried beans are good. I wish they had rice, but they didn’t. The street corn was very enjoyable. Afterwards I wanted to try something sweet; so I ordered their pumpkin cheesecake. The only mistake. It wasn’t that good. The worst part was the crust. We had some cocktails. My choice of margaritas was the passion fruit. It was fine. We had an enjoyable time. They have plenty of seating. Tables and booths inside; with stools at the bar. And there was patio seating outside. The bathrooms are clean, and parking was adequate. This restaurant has room for any size parties. No need for reservations.
The bottles of Coke aren’t cheap at $4.88. So you may want to go with the fountain drink with free refills.

Simple but delicious. Yummy salsas. I think this would be a staple for me if I lived close.
Quesadilla was great for the kids. Breakfast burrito with chorizo, was good but not epic. Patio is great for kids.
The staff was sweet to my kids and gave them some horchata to try.

Was pleasantly surprised to see a taco restaurant in Terminal B in the Phoenix airport but happy to have found it! I had 3 tacos pollo, Al pastor and Chiwas (beef) which came out fast with fresh salsa verde and a spicy avocado crema. I also had a cucumber jalapeno Margarita! Excellent service and flavors? $40 well spent! ️. I sat at the bar and this isn’t really a dining experience but I loved it!

Ordered the chorizo burrito to go. Heard this place was hitting hard so I had to try.
So soaked with the grease from chorizo. They know better than to serving this crap to people. And the people don’t know any better. Waste of money. My wife ordered a taco and it wasn’t soaked with that grease garbage. It’s not consume. It’s not flavor it’s grease.

As someone visiting from Florida—where Mexican tacos are just okay—Tacos Chiwas was a refreshing surprise. These tacos are far superior to what I’m used to back home and came very close to the quality of my all-time favorite, Tacos El Gordo.
I went all out and tried every taco on the menu:
• Asada
• Pollo
• Pastor
• Lengua
• Carnitas
• Tripas
• Tacos Chiwas
• Barbacoa
• Calabacitas
• Camarón
• Chicharrón (today’s special)
The meat-based tacos were flavorful and delicious—especially the lengua, pastor, and barbacoa. The chicken and shrimp tacos were a bit on the mild side for my taste, but once I added their house salsas, everything balanced out nicely.
To wash it down, I had a Jamaica and a Horchata—both refreshing and a perfect pairing with the meal. Prices are reasonable, too—most tacos are just $3.49, which is awesome for the quality.
I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. If you’re in Phoenix and craving authentic tacos, Tacos Chiwas is absolutely worth the stop!

Tried a couple different items, the burrito deshebrado with green chile, the asada burrito, and asada taco, carnitas taco, al pastor, chicken taco, chicken quesadilla, the asada is amongst the better asada ive had in phoenix so far, has an actual smoke grilled flavor, the carnitas are not amazing but they are good id rate them about a 6.5/10, the chicken quesdailla somewhat dissapointed id give it a 6/10, al pastor taco was good id give it an 8/10, the asada taco ima rate 9.5/10, the deshebrado burrito ima go with about a 6.5/10, the horchata was ok 7.5/10, carnitas taco also not amazing not the worst either 6.5/10

Tacos were cold. Meat was tender but seemed like it was reheated and didn’t have much flavor. Salsas were watery and just spicy but no flavor. Elote was good.

First time here, don’t care to come back. Carne asada tacos and salsas were good. The Gordita was mushy and flavorless, just a mushy mess. I wish they had rice, no sides, just beans … music a lil loud, decor was nice and the outside patio was great too and it’s pet friendly … not a fancy place.

This place was recommended by a coworker and it did not disappoint. Coming from Southern California it has been difficult finding authentic Mexican food! We ordered 6 tacos and an elote (carne asada, pollo, pastor, barbacoa, taco chiwas, & calibacitas). My personal favorite was the pastor (surprisingly) it was well seasoned and tender. The pollo was my least favorite because it was a bit dry. The elote was really good too! We also had a a variety of margaritas and a michelada. The hibiscus and passion fruit margarita was a 10/10 (make sure you try one or both)! And I can’t forget about the salsas! The salsa rojo was very spicy but I enjoyed it. I’d give this a 5 stars but I don’t like that you have to get back up and get in line to order additional drinks or food. Other than that this place is definitely worth a visit and staff is very friendly.
I’m happy we visited this place and despite my small dislike we will definitely be back!

Like most taco joints, it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s not supposed to. It’s what’s inside that counts, specifically, inside the tacos, which Guy Fieri learned when Tacos Chiwas was featured on one of my favorite TV shows, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It was also featured on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles. We shared the Pollo, Pastor, and Camaron tacos. They were all excellent and the house-made corn tortillas were well stuffed with each ingredient. Order at the counter and they bring them to your table, pronto. Next time, we’ll sit at the bar, which is more of a diner throwback. Besides tacos, the menu offers burritos (breakfast and regular) and quesadillas, all of which are served on house-made flour tortillas. The bar offers Margaritas, other cocktails, and beer. There’s also a spacious, walled, pet-friendly outdoor patio. We’ll be back, either sitting at the bar or with our dogs on the patio. Suggestion: add a nonspicy sauce, like an Avo Crema for people who don’t like much spice, like me. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice
