P.s. the tots were crispy and perfect
I originally wanted the oysters but the restaurant didn’t have them (probably out of season). However, they were still on the menu.
I ordered the crab cake Caesar salad for $39.99. I was hoping to get a flavorful crab cake that would justify the price. But I didn’t. The crab cake with so blend (watery), I relentlessly added salt and their seafood seasoning throughout the meal. It is hard to describe the filling they used in the crab cake but i am not a fan. Overall, a flavorless $60 bill was heartbreaking. Yet, undestandble due to the up charge and gamble for eating at the airport. I recommend this place for the drinks and the friendly staff but skip the food.
Our bar tender Dannette Nicole was hands down the best. She was funny energetic and beyond on point with getting our orders out and correct. We did not stop laughing with her the entire hour we were there before out flight.
Food:
It was some of the best airport food I’ve had. We had the BBQ chicken Flatbread and shrimp tacos.
The Flatbread was big and very tasty. Easily as sharable dish between 2.
The shrimp tacos had an amazing taste and were perfectly made.
Will definitely be back!!
I was in A so had to leave security area and walk to D&E terminal. It was a short enough walk but through security 3 times
So why do I tell you all this? The crab cake was worth it. When I got there the bar tender server was slammed but he methodically and efficiently just moved through it all. He remained attentive and polite all the while.
He was bussing tables, making Drinks and taking food orders. Yet he got a glass of water to me right away with in 2 mins of me taking a seat. I ordered a crab cake and 3 salts oysters on half shell. Before shucking my oysters he refilled my water
He asked how I wanted my crab cake fried or broiled. I kind of shrugged so he offered that fried was faster but broiled was traditional. So I took traditional.
The open face sandwich showed up about the time I finished my oysters so it really was not much longer to get it traditional broiled.
He asked if I needed anything and I said I needed something for the salad portion because I intended to eat the crab cake alone. He brought out a aioli which was perfect for the lettuce and tomato.
I used malted vinegar for the fries.
The crab cake was light golden brown and had huge pieces of lump crab meat. Had very little of the binder in it. The crab was remarkably sweet to my surprise.
Crab is not my first choice in seafood but if I had eaten something like this earlier it could be. I have had various stuffed crabs, crab legs and fish dished with crab in the sauce. I have eaten crab cakes in Charleston SC before as well.
I looked at the ticket and it said Joseph was my server. He found time to make some conversation and assured that I had every thing I needed when my food arrived. Upon leaving I asked him if there was a easy way back to C terminal. He kind of chuckled and said they has a sister restaurant in A.
Then he said if your flight gets delayed again you get hungry go there and tell then Joey sent you. He offered more water and declined.
Frankly outside of having to go through TSA separately to get to this restaurant. I doubt that from C that A is any closer. TSA got me in and out quickly in both terminals so no big deal.
Might have been different if I had less than an hour but with 2 hours there is plenty of time
Oysters were clean and only $3 each and no minimums
The crab cake basket was $26. Based on menus I have seen that was a fair price and actually exceptional given I was at Airport. Yes I looked a lot of place with the intention to get one but just never did for one reason or another.
