One of the best things we ate in Saigon was Bánh Xèo, a stuffed pancake, this one stuffed with chicken, which we tried at Hoang’s Kitchen – and it was delicious. We also had a round of margaritas and a few stir fry dishes which were good too.

Our waitress, a young woman, was terrific – I want to be clear about that.

But when we entered the restaurant, however, we were told by someone else to ‘wait outside’ because our table was not ready – and not very nicely.

Well, I refused because I am disabled. I sat down at a table in the back, which I believe was a staff table until our table was ready.

It was also quite hot in the restaurant. The AC was barely on, if at all. So not the relaxing evening I hoped for my last night in Saigon.

In District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, many restaurants are clearly tourist-oriented, and unfortunately, great ratings don’t always reflect the real experience. That’s why this place was such a pleasant surprise.

From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcome — the waiter was exceptionally kind, attentive, and helpful, doing his best to accommodate everything we asked for.

The food was beautifully seasoned, authentic, and well explained, offering a great example of how traditional Vietnamese dishes are meant to be prepared and enjoyed.

Lovely atmosphere and well-deserved 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had the stir-fried chicken with chili and lemongrass at Hoang’s Kitchen and really enjoyed it. The flavors were fresh, fragrant, and well balanced, with the lemongrass adding a great aroma to the dish. The chicken was cooked nicely and the portion was satisfying.

Just a small heads-up: the dish is quite spicy, so if you’re sensitive to heat you may want to ask for a milder version.

Service was also wonderful. Snow, who served me, was very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. Overall a great meal and a pleasant visit.

This is a good restaurant if you want to try Vietnamese cuisine. What makes it good in my opinion is that the staff there are really helpful. They teach you how to eat each food in the proper way. Mily, our host, was really friendly and showed us the way to have each meal. She even recommended some places to visit afterwards too. Overall a good and warm experience.

Unique dining experience with helpful staff and tasty dishes.

My partner & I dropped in without a reservation for dinner. We were seated immediately, which was just before an influx of guests around 19:30 (Monday).

We opted for the morning glory, vegetable spring rolls, vegetable pancake, traditional fried pork, washed down with a Bia Saigon & a Sprite.
The morning glory dish was well-cooked and very moreish, paired well with the Bia Saigon.

Our main courses were served and our waitress, Rose, explained how to eat them using rice paper to wrap into individual rolls. This was a first experience for us, but Rose explained it very well. The combination of the dipping sauce (some sort of soy sauce vinegar mixture) and our mains was great.

The dishes were served in a timely manner and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Good music too.
Would recommend trying this place.

Sadly I took no pictures of my food I ordered. I was starving by the time I arrived. We had the chicken and beef pho. I recommend either, it was light and delicious, not heavily fish tasting. ‘Fish’ our server spoke good English and was friendly and professional. I recommend 100%

I recently dined at Hoang’s Kitchen in Ho Chi Minh City, and it was an absolute delight! The food was incredibly delicious – from the fresh spring rolls bursting with flavors to the tender grilled beef with rice, every bite was a perfect blend of authentic Vietnamese spices and freshness. What made the experience even better was our server, Anna. Her service attitude was impeccable; she was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to recommend dishes that suited our tastes. Plus, Anna is absolutely stunning, adding a warm and welcoming vibe to the cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving top-notch Vietnamese cuisine!

Lovely restaurant in the middle of District 1.

Staff was super helpful and friendly.

I was served by Snow ❄️

Food delivered to the table quickly. But very fresh.

I had one of the signature dishes and Snow demonstrated how to prepare the wraps. Hers definitely tasted better than the ones I filled myself!

Would definitely recommend.
