We love Carstens!!! Even their glazed donuts are fluffy and balanced to not be overly sweet, we try to stop by for a little treat frequently, their filled donuts are the real deal and always high quality ingredients, the closest in recipe to Krispy Kreme with better flavors and more balanced than just sugar. They often run low on weekends if you’re not quick but usually have a few options left during weekdays by 11 am. Honestly my favorite bakery for yeast doughnuts

Carstens’ Bakery is a great spot for fresh baked goods. The bread and pastries taste homemade and really flavorful. The staff are friendly, and the bakery has a cozy, welcoming vibe. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

Friendly staff. Opens st 7:30. Serving raised donuts only. Donuts are $2 each. Bismarks etc. are $4 each. They are small and flat. If you are looking for fritters, cinnamon rolls, or chocolate cake donuts THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GET THEM. They make raised only.

If you want a maple bar, get there when they open because no joke people line up for these donuts!
The Huckleberry will melt in your mouth. They are worth every penny! Cute little shop, it is small, so I dont recommend hauling your whole family in with you if it is busy, but it gives me the old shop feel, so I really enjoyed being there. Friendly welcoming people working here. Loved it!

We bought a chocolate birthday cake and it was honestly the most awful terrible cake I have ever ordered. The chocolate cake inside was dry and crumbly and I wasn’t expecting chocolate fondant. We asked for buttercream frosting but got fondant instead. I would never order a cake from these people ever again. All the other stuff no problem but the cakes go somewhere else.

Carsten’s Bakery is charming and incredibly delicious!! It is one of the best kept secrets in Eastern Idaho!

This German bakery is utterly delightful and totally unique! If you are a foodie it would be well worth the trek or a side trip to try the outstanding pastries, cookies, cakes and other treats here.

(I am always astonished that even people who have lived in the area for years have never visited or even heard of it!)

This is one of those lovely family-run businesses that uses recipes, over 100 years old, that were passed down by their grandfather Willi, a master baker who trained in Germany. Do try to get there early because at times by noon they will be running low or out of popular items!

Their raisin cookies are unique and delicious—sweet raising filling gently encase in sugar cookie dough and baked to crisp perfection. I also love their cheese Danish, it’s not overly sweet and the dough that is soft and pillowy. The bagels are also slightly crisp on the outside and chewier than most bagels, I like them with cheese. The chocolate chunk cookies are to die for and the donuts, cream horns, and cream puffs are marvelous as well! You may as well pick up a pie or a loaf of homemade bread while you are there as well!

The service is always friendly, efficient, and you’ll feel right at home! Do give them a try!

My daughter has a picture book about visiting a bakery, which inspired us to try some local spots. So far this has been my favorite, the donuts were melt in your mouth delicious.

Oh my goodness! Absolutely a rare gem. There aren’t many bakeries like this around anymore. Heading home to California we decided to stop by per the ratings. And they definitely deserve more than 5 stars. They were out of most items but the items we purchased were unbelievably amazing: glazed donut( I didn’t have any great expectations but it was amazing), a whipped cream and raspberry filled something or another… amazing! almond croissant..again tasted homemade and amazing! With many people expanding their businesses during this time…you might want to open a shop in SoCal. Just sayin… Customer service was amazing as well. Please support this business. They produce many other amazing baked goods I am sure.
