Food was great. Seasonal. I spoke with our waitress and she said they draw inspiration from their owners. V they have different ethnic owners and each bring something unique to the menu. It’s not a large menu so they do everything quite well.
We were there for Sunday brunch and there was a live DJ playing some 90s-2000s jams. Overall great place.
Red lentil hummus was a nice touch.
The ambience was swanky. You can tell the cool San Jose people go here.
Bathrooms are also primo.
Two of us ordered:
you drive me loco moco $24
crab friends with benedicts $28
leafy things $16
We swung by for brunch. As expected, ambiance is nice in the area. Service could definitely improve. Ended up not getting the “Trix” drink that we ordered, so we just cancelled it.
Flavors for the food were ok.
Street parking in the area can be difficult during peak hours.
Good:
– The place was really beautifully decorated and looked like the inside of a treehouse with a lot of wooden aesthetic
– The food was also very well plated, we had the yogurt parfait and it was so cute
– The loco moco dish was also very hearty and good
– The caviar cone was so good but super tiny
– The lox toast was really good and crunchy too! Very filling
Bad:
– The place is more expensive so you’ll be paying more overall for your food
– Service can be a bit slower since it gets busier
Overall this experience was good for a morning brunch date! Had a great time
Loved the pita, the dips were interesting but not my favorite item, I’d definitely order hummus next time. The beets were awesome. The entrees were really tasty, the half chicken was delicious but as half chicken goes it was definitely on the small side, the branzino was a great entree.
Service: Reservation was at 1900, seated at 1902. I informed our server, Cris, of my food allergies- chilis of any sort, oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes. We ordered drinks at 1915. Cris, seemed knowledgeable with his drinks and drink pairings. We then ordered our appetizers and entrees at 1920. We ordered both since Cris said it was a busy night so it would work out better if we do so. Waited, waited, waited…. Still no food or drinks at 2000. Cris told us twice that are food would be coming up during that time. At about 2005 we get our drinks. There were four of us ladies, two celebrating birthdays. There was only one server on the mezzanine, a one bartender at the bar. At around 2020, we received our appetizers. We were surprised because at the point of an hour, and all we get is our appetizers?? While we were waiting the chef sends over a mini ice cream looking appetizer, and after our appetizers our server gave us some pb&j shots. Cris explained that he was sorry for the wait but it was because of all the allergies. Soon after our appetizers, we got our entrees. Yay. The pastas came out first. Then the steak. Initially we wanted the lamb but it could not be adjusted to my allergies so the steak was recommended. They would alter the sauce and the vegetables for my allergies. I took a bite of the steak and it tasted good. But on the second bite I noticed heat. I looked closer at the dish, and there were red dots in the sauce. I asked Cris if this was chili flakes? He took the dish and went to the chef. Shortly after, I was in immense stomach pain (I have chronic gastritis so certain foods inflame and burn my stomach lining). My stomach started to swell, and I was lying my head on the table. I gave Cris a moment, but due to the immense pain my friends suggested I go. One of them walked me to my car. After I left, they remade the dish and comped the dish. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try it. This was 11/19, I reached out to Eos and Nyx via phone, website and chat on 11/21 with no response as of the date of this review.
I ended up calling out sick and I’m still in pain. I also am unable to tolerate eating foods that are not bland and basic.
Food: food was decent. I had their version of a lychee martini but it did not taste like lychee at all. The pb&j shot was delicious. The tagliatelle was great! Gnocchi was not bad, but I am not a fan of gnocchi in general. Bruschetta was great. Beet appetizer left much to be desired.
Overall: how can you tell me that the reason our food took so long was because of allergies, but still poison me with chili?? I wouldn’t go back because the turnaround time for food was slow.
We found the service was exceptional from the hostess to the service staff.
We wish we understood the person delivering the food as he was almost whispering with an accent. I’m a little hard of hearing so give him some grace.
We were delighted to recieve a Chef starter:
A small Waffle cone w black sesame seeds.. marscopone cream with cavier.
Great combo of flavors. Nice start.
Our order started with
Octopus with negro mole, lime, maize, marcona almonds, coriander. Octopus was tender and not chewy and flavors of spice and sauce wonderful.
Spaghetti squid ink, Dungeness crab Manila clams, anchovy and tarragon.
Filet mignon – celeriac, smoked mushrooms, red wine jus. Cooked perfect medium rare. The celeriac cream was perfect consistency and creaminess with the smoked mushrooms and steak.
Enjoyed chef’s risotto and for desert the banana crème brûlée.
The wine list both bottles and by the glass is worldly and impressive.
We enjoyed mocktails, this night.
The food was incredibly flavorful and filling, with beautiful and unique presentation. The atmosphere was absolutely stunning and both times our servers were amazing—attentive, friendly and professional.
I’d give a 9.8 out of 10, with the only deduction being that the hosts were a bit snobby both times.
