I’ve always enjoyed eating at Rubio’s, but lately the food has become hit or miss. Unfortunately, my last visit was very disappointing and will be my last.

The Fish Tacos Especial I ordered were uncooked, soggy, and cold to the touch. Absolutely inedible! The tacos were also tiny and not even prepared correctly. The burrito we ordered was wrong as well, missing sauce and mostly filled with rice.

When I arrived, the cashier mentioned they were running behind and food would take about 15 minutes. I was fine with waiting, but it ended up taking about 40 minutes. They were also out of pinto beans for the side so I subbed for street corn and they were out of that too. At one point, the cashier with extremely long fingernails went into the kitchen to help cook but loudly complained she didn’t know how to cook.
The restaurant itself was dirty, tables had leftover food, the salsa bar was a mess and the salsa was not cool, and several iced tea options hadn’t been brewed. Other customers were complaining too and asking for refunds.

When I brought up the uncooked fish to the manager, his response was unconcerned, which was especially troubling given the health risk. He did refund our meal, and we left our food untouched to eat elsewhere.

Sadly, this experience left me very disappointed, and I won’t be returning to Rubio’s.

Rubio’s really made my day.
Anthony at the register was so kind and welcoming and made ordering feel easy. Khalid in the kitchen absolutely delivered and truly went above and beyond–the sweet potato California bowl was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with so much care. Plus, they had some killer beats playing which felt like a little bonus to set the vibe.
You can really feel how much pride and attention the team puts into looking out for their guests, and it made the whole experience feel special.
I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot!

Andrew behind the register is a very nice and efficient young man. He’s a great ambassador for this Rubio’s. But there are still some issues after the change of ownership.

We ordered 2 quesadillas, one shrimp and one chicken. We got them quickly which is a great improvement over the last owners. But both were only 3/4 filled. The outside inch of each was just tortilla.

There was an adequate amount of chicken but there were only two shrimp on three of the four pieces. That made for several bites of cheese only quesadilla.

The salsa bar was clean and well stocked. The tables have seen better days though.

We’ll continue to eat here as we have other favorite dishes.

Huge Rubios lover! This store needs new management. 1st visit: Short staffed, took 20 minutes for 2 fish tacos. 2nd visit: (waited 10 minutes at front door for them to open) Once inside, some guy with nose/lip rings says there’s no food because staff and/or delivery truck didn’t show up. 3rd visit: (my final time). Came at opening. Internet was down so they could only take cash. Online order customers were coming in to pick up but they didn’t have any f the orders because internet was down. I ordered 2 fish tacos & fountain soda. The soda machine was down because they were out of co2. My fish tacos were 98% thick batter & way overcooked. Also restrooms were filthy.

My family has a regular Tuesday order. Occasionally one or two things will be wrong but we don’t complain bc we like the place and staff. Unfortunately tonight every order had something wrong with it. Corn instead of flour shells, missing guac, things that should on the side left on and so forth. The biggest frustration is that we live 20 minutes away. When I try to call, it rings twice and tells us to try again later. Apparently this is the way they want us to resolve complaints … disappointing

We go to Rubio’s several times a week. Today we ordered some tacos and tortilla soup to take out. The tortilla soup wasn’t like normal. The soup was almost a clear broth, and not flavorful as usual. The worst of it though, was they did not give us the container of tortillas. What is tortilla soup without the tortills.

Came here for lunch at 11am. No wait and the establishment was very clean. Mercedes greeted us as we walked in the door and with a great attitude. Fantastic customer service which is short in supply nowadays. I love coming here and their steak burritos never seem to miss.

I tried to call in Rubio’s for my birthday, and they said they didn’t do call ins anymore. I asked if they would do it since I was already on the phone, but they hung up on me. So I used the app, which is faulty, and they messed up the order. I went in person, and mentioned that I was hung up on. They didn’t seem to care, even telling me that they do in fact do call ins – only not when it’s busy (there was no one inside). They charged me for four drinks when I ordered one, and I asked for a refund but the manager gave me a stink about it. He said he didn’t have the authority to do it, and had to have the regional manager give me a call. The manager never called, and I never got my refund. Horrible service, and must be among the reasons Rubio’s has declared bankruptcy twice and has been forced to close scores of locations last year alone.
