Once I got home and opened the food, the seafood was completely mushy and inedible.
You couldn’t even eat it. This was especially disappointing since I ordered the “Get Your Feet Wet” meal, which is not cheap.
We immediately called the store and spoke with
AJ, the manager, to explain the situation. I was told I would have to bring the food back in person to receive a refund. I explained that I do not live in the area and asked if I could send photos of the food instead. She said no, and during the call she laughed, which felt extremely unprofessional given the situation. Whether it was personality or not, it came across as dismissive.
At that point, between the poor food quality and lack of customer service, I ended the call. Bad service, bad food, and no effort to resolve the issue-especially on a holiday.
This experience was unacceptable, and it’s a shame because I expected much better.
This was our second time coming here in DC, and once again, everything was absolutely delicious! We’ve been craving a good seafood boil for so long (there’s really nothing like this in Denmark), so it felt amazing to be back.
We tried all the spice levels this time — and I have to say, the extra extra spicy is my favorite! It has that perfect kick that keeps you wanting more without overpowering the flavor. The seasoning is super rich and flavorful, and the seafood was so fresh. We got the crawfish, shrimp, mussels, sausage, corn, and potatoes — everything soaked up that spicy sauce perfectly.
We also had the fried calamari to start, which was light, crispy, and served with lemon and marinara — such a great appetizer! The shrimp in lemon pepper was another highlight, recommended by the owner herself (who was incredibly kind and friendly). The whole staff was so welcoming and attentive — they made the experience even better.
We left so full and happy! Hot N Juicy Crawfish is definitely our go-to whenever we’re in DC. If you love seafood boils, this is the spot. Can’t wait to come back again!
Some of the Shrimp are soft and worst than frozen, i think it mind be double cook or? And crawfish got the weird color, i’ve never seen that color on seafood.
The service guy was great ,the food is the only prob here.
ATMOSPHERE:
Indoor seating is pretty big as the restaurant goes far back. We sat outside under covered protection without the nuisance of insects.
MENU:
Crab, lobster, shrimp, mussels, clams, crawfish, oysters, calamari, catfish, po’ boys, chicken wings.
FOOD:
The Drool
$75 buys you 1 pound of crawfish, 1 pound of shrimp, 12 andouille sausage slices, 2 small corn on the cobs, 2 small whole potatoes, and 1/2 pound of snow crab bagged and done in their mix of garlic butter and juicy Cajun sauces, with a side basket of calamari. I personally didn’t want to eat this messy concoction, but my spouse wanted to so what the hey. The crawfish are like miniature lobsters, and the only meaty part is in their tiny tails. So much effort for such a small reward. The shrimp were cocktail style (aka boiled) which isn’t my favorite preparation. The corn cobs were horribly soggy and overcooked. The sausages were tasty, and the potatoes I didn’t even try. The best part was the snow crab. The mainstream but tasty side basket of breaded calamari were all rings, no tentacles, boo! Good for 2 adults to share.
Etouffee
The thick and hearty soup came in a medium-sized cup. Spice level was about 3 on a 5 heat scale. It was pretty oily and had an unusual after taste that I didn’t care for. Pass.
Soft Shell Crab Basket
This was delish! And this comes from a now former soft shell crab hater! I’ve passed on this numerous times because it’s like eating plastic wrap soaked in crab juice with no meat inside. This was the total opposite here. I was surprised at the amount of meat inside of the savory batter and soft shell. I opted for Cajun fries which were superb. Dipping sauces were ketchup and a tasty tartar sauce. Highly recommend and so much cleaner to eat!
SERVICE:
We walked in without reservations and got seated immediately outside. Our multi-tasking male server was friendly, has great memory, and checked on us often.
OVERALL:
Good flavors, excellent soft shell crab, decent prices.
Add ons are pretty pricey, they charge $1.75 for one really small potato. Definitely comeback to this place if I could
