Bai Tong Thai Restaurant has a nice mix of options — soups and salads, noodle and rice dishes, curries, and plenty of choices that work for vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan eaters. The menu is clearly marked, and the staff is used to customizing.
The story behind the place is also lovely. It started in 1989 near Sea-Tac by a former Thai Airways flight attendant who wanted to cook familiar food for airline crews passing through Seattle. Over time, it grew into multiple locations, but the food still feels comforting and familiar.
If you’re in Seattle (or Redmond / Issaquah) and need a Thai spot that works for everyone at the table, this is a solid choice.
The food was also good. However because being a all time Thai food lover and live in Southeast Asia, I believe some dishes could be even better 🙂
Overall it was a great experience dining at Baitong Thai.
I and 11 coworkers went Bai Tong for team lunch at Monday. The food was mediocre, the service was so so.
First of all, the kitchen missed one of our order. My coworker kept on waiting for her dish until the waiter told her that she had to reorder a dish.
When the food arrived, all of them tastes off. The mango Thai ice tea does not tastes mango at all. The garlic chicken was way too sweet that you can not taste any other flavor. The chicken satay was quite dry. The curry fried rice got one spicy flavor over power other ingredients.
Many of us had been Bai Tong before. So many dishes tasted different that we wondered if the Monday kitchen staff is different.
Meanwhile, we will think twice before hosting team lunch on Bai Tong again.
Food was TOO SWEET. We couldn’t believe it! It was like drinking/eating dessert. I have never had such sweet green curry. There is almost no balance between sweet, savory and sour. Not a come back for me. Food: 2/5
The ambience was there though and 5/5 for this.
I’ll be coming back for sure!
We ordered the popular Burmese dish Khao Soi, Thai green curry, and jasmine rice. Every minute of the wait was completely worth it. The Khao Soi truly surprised me, it was incredibly flavorful, rich, and perfectly balanced. I honestly feel like I could order it every single time I visit. The portion sizes were also quite generous. I’ll definitely be coming back!
