The menu from Evil Dave’s lured us into coming for the appetizers but that was a mistake. The server was absolutely miserable, the bathroom had no toilet paper, the drinks came after all three appetizers. We ordered the beef sushi which was good, but for that price you could order a sirloin steak at a better restaurant. The Brie sounded amazing but it had about one sliver of almond and was sitting in a vat of sweet goo that was awful. The bread was underbaked but burnt on the bottom so difficult to even cut. The green onion cake was plain with a sauce that was mayo based and very lack lustre.

Will not be going back of course.

We have been coming to Jasper every year for the past 4 years between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. And every year we make it a must to come to Evil Dave’s Grill. The Cowboy Sushi is an absolute MUST TRY! Though not in the photos, the meatloaf is always delicious too. No fountain pops so if you’re looking for free refills this isn’t the place. Great service and it’s clear that they are professionals. Would 100% recommend making a reservation as the place is always busy.

We haven’t been to Evil Dave’s Grill since they moved to this location, and since we were staying at the Marmot Lodge, we figured it was a great opportunity to have dinner at Evil Dave’s with our children.

I made a reservation through their website and I’m sure glad I did as the restaurant was full upon our arrival. People without reservations were either being turned away or having to wait, but it seemed as though most had made reservations.

Our server was very helpful and offered some great suggestions. Our children both decided on the Hurtin’ Alberta kids meal and they greatly enjoyed it, saying that the burger was better than the ones I make at home (how dare they ). They had some other great options for kids as well. The Little Buddha was their second choice.

My wife chose the Karma Curry with chicken and naan bread, and it was easily the best dish that was ordered. It was very flavourful and filling, and I honestly wish I had ordered it myself. I ended up going with the Chef’s Cut steak with daily vegetables which was perfectly cooked. Even though it was delicious with a peppercorn sauce that complimented the entire dish, I think I would’ve enjoyed the Karma Curry a bit more.

We finished our meal by sharing their Chocolate Cake and ice cream.

It definitely wasn’t a cheap dinner for the family, but it was delicious and memorable. We’d definitely return again in the future.

I’m visiting from Manitoba and asked my friend from Ontario where he recommended based on where he went while here on work. He suggested the meatloaf. He was not wrong. Great choice. Definitely recommend.

Evil Dave’s Grill in Jasper offers a vibrant dining experience with a globally inspired menu and locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant is known for its unique dishes like the “Cowboy Sushi” and “Malevolent Meatloaf,” which have received positive reviews for their creativity and flavor. The ambiance is modern and inviting, providing a comfortable setting for guests. While some patrons have noted that the prices can be on the higher side, many feel the quality of the food justifies the cost. Service is generally praised for being attentive and friendly. Overall, Evil Dave’s Grill is a popular choice for those seeking a distinctive dining experience in Jasper.

I hadn’t been to this location (nor the second location) after a terrible customer service experience at the original location 10+ years ago (despite frequent trips to Jasper). Unfortunately things appear to have only gotten worse.
The customer service is just atrocious. I waited almost 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge my existence while a long line up formed by behind me and then another 45 minutes for my take out order that was supposed to be ready an hour prior.
It’s theoretically great that this place keeps finding a new way to stay alive, but they need to figure out their staffing/service issues asap.

Not just putting all 5 stars for no reason, genuinely worth this rating. Had a steak and potatoes, and the stake was cooked to absolute perfection! (Like seriously, compliments to the chef because I can’t express how perfectly it was done to how I like it.) Food across our table was amazing, the service was extremely friendly, and there was live music playing too.
Comfortable, and the food was very tasty. If you want genuinely good quality food and drinks, it is worth the extra that it will cost per person.

Had the best meal. So enjoyed the fish tacos, but the best part was enjoying our chocolate orange hot chocolate as part of the Christmas in Jasper Mug Trail! This hot chocolate was our dessert!

Food pretty great.

Drinks not so much. Had a ‘Cool Brew’ cocktail (an espresso martini in all but name) that was the worst I’ve ever had. Their Instagram shows a better version than I was served, I think possibly the bartender’s first day. For a place that boasts high quality cocktails, it was hilariously bad. See pic. Watched the bartender make it, he doesn’t appear to understand how to shake a cocktail.

Beer selection was also a lone hefeweizen.

We were put on a table basically beside another large group, and seated after a couple who had a reservation a half hour after us, who got a much nicer table.

Just felt like it was everybody’s first day in hospitality.

Everything except the food which I genuinely can’t fault. My awkward order was accommodated perfectly.

The chefs deserve a better everything else.

An overall 5! The food was incredibly yummy and our server was very attentive! It did take a hot minute to get seated even though it wasn’t that busy but it was nice and cool in the restaurant and the curry was mild and yummy! Steak was also excellent! Love that the menu denotes dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian etc! The “Daily Bread” is dairy free FYI
