A very quiet Saturday night with no one else but us. But absolutely worth it. What a feast of authentic seafood from Mexico. Fresh and true to taste, the suggestions from our very friendly and welcoming server Marcelano was on point. This gentlemen took pride in his food and home town of Matazalan. Definitely worth a visit for good, quality seafood that is very reasonably proced. 7mares was delicious as was the ceviche and scallops.

this restaurant was empty the server had lack of customer service being that it was 6 of us she completely ignored that we were there. We had to go to The cook to see if she was coming to bring our tab but she didn’t come out he brought it. I can see why she never came being that she already charged her tip. Do not recommend coming here. The food does not make sense to me the atmosphere is not at par to be a mariscos restaurant.

We had an exceptional experience at Palapas Seafood. The fish al mojo de ajo was nothing short of phenomenal — perfectly seasoned, tender, and infused with a rich garlic flavor that elevated every bite. The portion was incredibly generous, making it ideal for sharing without ever feeling short on flavor or quality. The star of the evening, however, was the octopus “stranded”. It was truly incomparable — tender yet firm, beautifully prepared, and unlike anything else we’ve had before. Both dishes reflected a level of freshness and care that you rarely find, and the presentation added a refined touch that made the meal feel special. The atmosphere of the restaurant complemented the food perfectly, warm and welcoming while still maintaining an elegant flair. Palapas Seafood is a place where you can enjoy hearty, flavorful seafood that feels both comforting and gourmet at the same time.

We went here to eat for my birthday on a Thursday night. It wasn’t crowded and the service was exemplary. We both love octopus and chose Palapas because they have it on the menu and it is close to where we live. Each us had a seafood cocktail and both were delicious. The owner spent quite a bit of time checking on us, and letting us know how much he appreciated us choosing the restaurant. We wanted grilled octopus and he suggested we split it. It was more than enough for us. It was grilled perfectly and flavorful. We are looking forward to our next visit and I highly recommend it.

It was a fresh tasting and beautiful presentation. We had the Maui ceviche, red snapper with Diablo, shrimp stuffed bacon wrapped japs, an a side of charro beans. All were excellent. Will definitely be going back.

I ended up here while visiting from out of town and had a craving for a good caldo de mariscos, and boy, did they deliver! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CALDO I’VE EVER HAD! Super tender, perfectly cooked octopus, chunks of fish and plenty of shrimp filled the cup. Unfortunately, MY mistake was getting it to-go, and not being able to properly enjoy this deliciousness in a bowl, while sitting in their BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED restaurant. The friendly waitress and chef/owner? were a pleasure to talk to while I waited to take my food. And even though I took my food to-go, they did not leave anything out: fresh limes, bread, and some tasty chips & salsa! I ‘m not sure when I’ll be back , but I’ll definitely look forward to stopping by if I do. It’s a beautiful location in a nice part of town. Make sure and stop by!

I found out about this restaurant through a social media video. It looked like something I wanted to try. I love seafood and I’m a food adventurer. Love trying new places to eat. I was super exited to try this place. Sadly, this was one of the worst experience so far. I ordered the Seafood Parrillada. Not very good. Seafood, specially the octopus was way over cooked and burnt. They serve the food on a iron skillet which probably caused the bed of onions and Seafood to burn. Another disappointing dish was the shrimp cocktail. There was absolutely no flavor. In a mixture of what it seems like onion water. Disgusting. My husband ended up removing the 6 sheimps they threw in there and try to eat them with chips alone. When we let the server know, seemed like she was bothered by bringing it to her attention. We also ordered the fish chicharron as the appetizer, which it was good, but fish was way over cooked and very tough. Honestly, I wish food was a bit better quality for the price. We paid $140 for 1 appetizer, 1 seafood parrillada, 1 shimp cocktail and 1 michelada. Way over priced, very low quality food.

Quite the tasty seafood in the Sinaloa Mexican style. Try the camarones cucaracha with shells so soft you can eat em!
Oh no you didn’t…Oh yes I did!!
Their take on the bacon wrapped pepper with shrimp and panella cheese stuffing is lighter in taste with no heat, a great opportunity for those turned away by the ubiquitous jalapeño version or something to placate the children who can’t have a margarita.

I personally would not recommend eating here. I was pretty grossed out by all the health safety issues. A gentleman poured frozen shrimp in the sink behind the bar to defrost whilst using the same sink to wash his hands (while the shrimp was still in there). He was handling oysters, then would rinse his hands with water, and then touch something else. He took a bunch of cilantro after opening oysters and chopped it up in the veggie cooler for later. Just.. no. It was freezing cold in there, the service was slow.
My husband enjoyed his grilled dish which is why I have the rating for the food. But I would personally never want to eat there again.
