Overall, this sushi and Asian restaurant is decent, but inconsistent so I’d give it 3.5 stars.
The biggest issue is uneven execution. Some dishes were well done, while others missed the mark—especially with temperature control. One broccoli piece was warm on one side and cooler than the plate on the other, which suggests uneven cooking. The spring rolls were undercooked and extremely oily, likely because the oil temperature wasn’t high enough. Since they’re vegetable-based, it wasn’t a food safety concern, but the texture and flavor suffered.
On the positive side, the sushi is good, though not exceptional. The teriyaki chicken was cooked flawlessly and tasted very good, even though the rice was only lukewarm. The soups arrived piping hot, which was appreciated, and the chicken katsu was also very good. The orange beef was barely fried and underdone considerably. Some may like this but I’m unsure if it met cooking temperature requirements but I guess I’ll find out by tomorrow.
Service was more than adequate. The staff took time to explain the menu, which is somewhat complicated but thoughtfully designed, and they were helpful in guiding choices.
If consistency improves—especially with cooking temperatures—this place could easily move up to a solid 4-star experience.

Had a absolutely wonderful lunch with my wife today, this place is top of the line sushi without a doubt. The flavors were fresh, explosive, perfectly matched and the service was amazing, they were very friendly and fast, also it was very relaxing and we were able to easily speak to each other without having to yell over other people. It’s a great date place and is definitely on our repeat visit list 100%, a must try!!

I must admit I was a bit let down by this restaurant experience, only because the day before I visited the 83rd location and it was PHENOMENAL!! The portion size, the freshness or ingredients, the lo mein was the absolute star! Meaty slices of pork and chicken and jumbo shrimp with fresh garlic, onions and cabbage it was delicious, a very flavorful brown sauce. This location lo mein was subpar at best, the sauce wasn’t bursting with flavor and honestly didn’t have enough, the pork was the traditional little slither, and the shrimp size was average. I also noticed the other locations uses a slightly thicker lo mein noodle! Outside of the food quality the service was awesome, the atmosphere was cleaning and inviting but very bright compared to the other location which is dimly lit and warm. The employees stated these are 2 very separate businesses but they have the same name and perhaps family lineage. My suggestion would be for the 64th location to mimic the one on 83rd!

Kawaii Sushi & Asian Cuisine in Glendale is a standout every time we visit. The sushi is incredibly creative and packed with flavor—fresh fish, thoughtful combinations, and rolls that are as fun to look at as they are to eat. I’ve been kawai’s customer ever since they opened in 2024. Kelly Vu the owner and her crew are excellent people, hard worker, excellent customer service.
I understand Kelly has some rough time with Immigration and was detained for several months. I’m glad she is back home and wish her the best to win the stay in USA, she deserves that 200%.

Great sushi restaurant with many options. Good side portions and good pricing.
I went with 2 family members for dinner and we had two appetizers and 5 rolls and had to get a to go box.
If you are looking for an authentic sushi place I would highly recommend coming here. Service was fast and the staff is very attentive!
