First timers and we loved the food and service and enjoyed meeting the owner Shay. It is a super casual restaurant in the heart of historic St. Charles Main Street, where they specialize in smoked meats and Cajun-creole dishes. We opted for the smoked meats of brisket, pastrami, and pulled pork. Each was flavorful, tender and moist. We also tried the smoked dry rub wings appetizer special which were cooked perfect and flavorful. The sides we enjoyed were hush puppies, fries, baked beans and Mac & cheese. The hush puppies and fries were crisp and fluffy inside. The pit beans were excellent. The mac & cheese was basic as it was a thin cheese sauce with potato chip crumbs on top. The entrees were served with an healthy portion size of their house bbq sauce. All in all, we look forward to our next visit to try their creole entrees.

Creole & BBQ….delightful & delicious! We had burnt ends, hush puppies, fried okra, red beans & rice, and potato salad. Each one of them was great. The burnt ends were tender with just the right amount of fat on them. The sauce was amazing. Hush puppies & burnt ends is a must try combo. The red beans were a little thicker than I prefer, but still super tasty. Finally, the bread pudding was a great finish

Cozy and quaint. Delicious flavors. From the okra appetizer ( best Okra ever) to the refreshing drinks, to the jumbo and fabulous desserts absolutely outstanding. Every side we had was great!!! The beans are the best !!! Service was kind courteous and efficient. Highly recommend!

Tried this spot for dinner with some friends. This a small place, but we enjoyed it. The service was great. The food was great. Nice menu with a mix of Cajun options and barbecue. The Boudaib Balls were a good start. Brisket chilli was phenomenal. The Pit Beans may have been the best beans I have ever had. They even had smoke cheesecake and apple cobbler. Would recommend this to anyone.

Shays was a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and the place itself has some charm. Here’s what I’d recommend.

Burnt Ends (not available every night) – Excellent burnt ends that pair well with their sauce. Very tender and flavorful.
Brisket – thinly sliced (or slicely thinned?), good smoke, good moisture retention. I’ll definitely try their French dip version, this would be perfect for that application with how they slice it. It’s great brisket.
Pastrami – great pastrami, brisket is better but I’d get this again.
Hush puppies – sooo good get these.
Bbq baked beans – these are great as well, if they had a little less sweet from the bbq sauce in there they’d be perfect.
Creole corn – pretty good, like creole elote meets some kind of corn salad.

Twa Bon Bagay – Consists of:
Shrimp etouffee, had a good flavor
Gumbo, the best of the 3
Red beans and rice, a bit bland and could’ve used bell pepper/onion/celery, it was over-reduced.

Smoked bread pudding, too good after the sauce soaks in.

The most authentic Creole cooking that I have eaten yet in St. Louis.
Delicious bread pudding and other smoked desserts as well.
Plus the beer list has to be seen to believe. My favorite one is Red Stripe.

F A N T A S T I C. We found this spot by chance and couldn’t have been anymore pleased! It’s of course nestled in one of the most beautiful settings on Main Street in St Charles! The building itself is gorgeous, very well decorated with vintage mugs and a taste of Nee Orleans all around. You seat yourself upon entering, indoor and outdoor seating to choose from. Our server was a gem, I wish I could remember her name! She was so helpful and accommodating walking us through the menu options, specials, drinks and desserts. A lot of the items we ordered were out for the day (we went around 6pm), but we’d long forgotten about it once our food came out. WOW. Everything had a fantastic taste, look and smell to it. We got the Brisket, which was more thinly sliced than expected, but delicious! The Cuban was the best sandwich I’ve had in years! The Gumbo had the most perfect taste and consistency, the Pit Beans were delicious, the Creole Corn was great and the BBQ sauce was incredible as well. I just cannot rave more about this place! Their drink menu is even extensive and they have a full bar. We cannot wait to go back!

This was a cute place, but the food was a little disappointing, especially for the price. My bf and I picked this option because the website says the piggy platter (3 meats, 3 sides) is $43.50, and we were going to split that. But their website is outdated, and their prices are much higher. That plate was over $60. And it wasn’t worth it. The brisket was so thin and chewy and fatty. There wasn’t a smoke ring or much flavor. You couldn’t see any seasoning on any meat or the fries or the mac and cheese. It honestly was the worst mac and cheese I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. Some boxes are better. For being “creole,” we thought there’d be more flavor. Even the gumbo was bland. The bbq sauce was also not great, very sweet. The best “sauce” I had was the creole ranch (added it to the mac and cheese lol). The best meat we tried was the pastrami. Chicken was ok, but I wouldn’t order anything we tried again. Our waitress also didn’t really talk to us. She stopped by to get our order about 15 minutes after we were seated, apologized for that wait, but it was no big deal. Someone else delivered our food, she filled our waters once. She didn’t ask how the food was. We also waited a long time to get our ticket, which was a little uncomfortable because there were obviously people waiting by the door to get a table. In general, that did make the dining experience feel a little rushed as well.

That was the best bbq chicken I’ve ever had! That cherry glaze man! Wasn’t sure if i wanted to chicken or pork, went with the pick two entree. Best decision! The pork was great also the pit beans had an incredible smoked flavor, even the fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside. Or server was very friendly attentive and there before the drinks were low.
