Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Last night my teen broke her ankle. After a long night at the ER, we came home and got to bed around midnight. Because of pain, she was up throughout the night, and so was I.
My husband is having a problem with his vehicle, so this morning he took my car.
I am tired. Barely holding it together today.
I placed an order on the Whataburger app for delivery. Everything seemed to go well. They took my money, Jordan G. was scheduled to pick it up. Great. Pretty soon I’d have some spicy ketchup to make everything better.
Then I waited. And waited. And waited. Then I received the notification that my order was delivered. Mouth watering, I rush to the door and NOTHING. No order. No spicy ketchup.
I text Jordan G. to ask where they delivered my order to. No response. I called Jordan G. and there was an automated message in Spanish that I didn’t understand. So I text again. And again.
I called the restaurant and spoke with April – the OP (which in non Whataburger language is the “Best Manager Ever”). She explained that it was a DoorDash driver who picked it and understandably she couldn’t refund and they don’t have any in house drivers. She told me to give DoorDash a call and see what they would do, and then to call her back with the outcome.
DoorDash was no help. Because it wasn’t ordered on their app, they couldn’t refund and wouldn’t redeliver. They also said that they didn’t have a record of Jordan G. – who by now has ignored multiple text messages from a hungry, tired, perimenopausal woman at her wits end.
I called April back to let her know what they said, and to admit defeat. I had lost the money, and my patience, and I was just going to make a tuna sandwich and call it.
April took it upon herself to make me a fresh order and DELIVERED it herself to my apartment. That is more than going above and beyond. Who does that? What other fast food place would care enough to do that?
It’s very rare to find someone that cares about others more than themselves. Today I found that person in April. It was the kindest gesture that a total stranger has done for me in a long time, and I am so very appreciative.
I’ve called corporate office and let them know that they have an outstanding employee on their hands, and that she deserves recognition for it. I hope they give her a raise, a vacation, or whatever will make her feel seen and special – the same way she made me feel today.
Thank you April. Truly. You have no idea how your kindness changed the mood of my day.
The food was great, and the service bringing the food to the table was awesome!!
Keep up the great work!!
