This diner is decorated to the nines for every holiday. Went here this past Sunday, and it’s fall themed now with Halloween and a little of Thanksgiving. It was beautiful. Went here last year during Christmas time and it was even better if you could believe that.
Good was okay, diner food. We had breakfast. I was taken back at the upcharge it is to add cheese to an omelette. I ordered the artichoke hearts omelette which on this September 2025 Sunday it was $14, and to add cheddar cheese into the omelette it was $18 total!! $4 for cheese is a little absurd if you ask me. $4 for adding bacon into the omelette would’ve been fine, but I didn’t ask for that so I didn’t receive that, but I couldn’t imagine what the upcharge for that is! Omelette came with home fries and toast. I got wheat. Comes delivered with salted butter. Home fries were okay. Need to add salt and pepper yourself but they could’ve been a tad crispier.
My partner got two eggs over easy with bacon and home fries and white toast. It was standard. Nothing special to point out. Same thought with the toast.
Got a coffee and a chocolate milk. Chocolate milk was not the standard diner chocolate-y milk. Coffee was average.
Total with tax $44.
Would only come again for legit the decorations.

I had never heard of this restaurant and when I stepped inside my mind was blown! Wow ! Loved how they made the venue different in a good day. Amazing !

The waitress was perfectly attentive and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble. Coleslaw and pickle was delivered for all of us and the meals were huge.

Felt catered for, we left full and happy. Well done ! We found a gem there ❤️

Went there for Thanksgiving 2025 and it was even more disappointing than last year—definitely not worth the exuberant prefixed price that turned into $80 for one. Ordered the Lamb which didn’t taste like lamb at all. The white cream of Turkey soup, had no taste. But the Greek salad was generously sprinkled with Feta Cheese so it definitely escalated the taste. The sweet potato was by far the best part of the dinner. It was so delicious, I ordered two to go. The baked clams, basically non existent and the Asparagus, not grilled or sautéed or anything. The disappointment was so overwhelming, forgot to ask for the dessert which was included with the dinner. The place was extremely crowded and had to be seated at the counter. That I have to say, was very comfortable—and no, I’m not being sarcastic. The best part of the night was meeting my server Carol. A three time Cancer survivor, fighting all over again. Her inspirational words allowed me to forget all my problems on this Thanksgiving Day.

Was there for Thanksgiving 2024 so the place was brilliantly decorated in an endless Christmas decor. The food, however, it’s another story. Even though they were offering a Thanksgiving dinner, the fixed price rate for what they were offering was not appetizing—so we opted for the menu. And that, was a mistake. The fried clams platter, was burnt to say the least. The bagel platter with lox, nothing to talk about. The Manhattan clam chowder tasted like minestrone soup and the rice pudding had no taste whatsoever. So, for $98, two people can eat at this diner with a glass of wine each.

The oconee is a an average diner. It’s not bad but it’s not phenomenal either. The atmosphere was nice, it was very decorated for the holidays which was great. Everything was clean too. The service was great, our waiter was phenomenal, he was very kind and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was average. It was basically what you can expect from a classic diner. It wasn’t bad at all, just average. I got the grill wrap, it was a little bland but still good. The prices were just a smidge high for a diner but nothing too bad. I did really appreciate the free cookie after dinner, especially since you don’t find many places that do things like that anymore. All the desserts I saw in cases also looked good. Overall if I was in the area and needed to eat I would go here again.

We have been going to Oconee for as long as I can remember. Today we were very disappointed. My fiance ordered a cheese burger deluxe. It was like a hockey puck, 1 slice of fake American cheese. I ordered a triple decker chicken salad. It was so dry and the bread was as thin as a saltine. The waiter had an attitude. I can understand the chef being off but to be honest they have been going downhill the last year or so. Don’t know if anyone else has had issues. Wish I had taken pictures.

One of the few truly solid diners left on the Island. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is consistently done to the nines. We especially love going during Christmas — it’s heavily decorated, festive, and the kids absolutely love it.

The food is always fresh, and the quality has remained impressively consistent over the years. A reliable, classic diner experience that’s getting harder and harder to find.

truthfully the food/service was fine, what youd expect, but i have never been so appalled by prices in my life. some things just made absolutely no sense. half of a grapefruit for $4.75, toast for $3.50, home fries for $7, fine, home fries with CHEESE? $11. just absurd. you’d think youre at a steakhouse.

Being from Nassau we were unfamiliar with the goings on at this Diner. Driving back west late on a Saturday morning we slowed as we passed and the parking lot appeared nearly full, so we figured it might be decent and we went in.
We were immediately struck by the décor as it was nearly a duplicate of the Embassy Diner in Bethpage, that we frequent closer to home. We mentioned this to the hostess who said she lives near us, and the place was run by the same management. Small world.
So how was it, you might ask.
While the place was bustling the service was incredibly attentive, courteous, and prompt. When I added an item to our order with our server Carlos, it was handled without any fuss or attitude. Our breakfast was delivered exactly as ordered; was hot, fresh, and simply delicious.
Factoring in the rampant inflation of the past four years the prices were reasonable.
We’ll be back next trip through Islip.

This place is an absolute joke. Based off the price you would think there would be some kind of quality when it came to the food. Spent 71 dollars for two orders of pancakes and two orders of chicken fingers with fries and this is what they give you. This is me giving them a second chance to begin with. Do your self a favor, go anywhere else but here.

Food was good, service was great, menu had a big variety and the place was decorated really nice for St Patrick’s Day. I thought it was a little pricey for a diner (hotdogs were $27 on the dinner menu) but I would still go back. I had the beef goulash and it was very good.
