The food was pretty good, and my server was doing the absolute very best they could, the mere fact that they only had two servers on a Friday afternoon during lunch rush is mind-boggling to me. They had a total of 15 different parties ranging from two people to six people each.
Of course, everything took a lot longer than it probably should have. And this is not on the servers at all. This is 100% due to poor management.
I do not usually knock a restaurant this bad for things, but hiring and keeping people hired for your restaurant is definitely 100% management’s responsibility.
All in all, it wasn’t okay dining experience. But it could have been much better if they could have had more servers on the floor.
We ordered a burger, a spud, wings and an order of chips and dip. My wife’s said her burger tasted like chemicals, so she did not eat it. The pulled pork on the spud was greasy, cold and almost mushy. The wing’s seemed to be undercooked although the menu said “smoked and fried” The only edible thing on the plates was french fries and the chips and queso. We spent almost $65 on horrible food. I don’t leave many reviews at all, especially on food. This place just stood out as awful.
The prices are affordable but for lack of food quality.
I don’t know how anyone can eat BBQ here.
The restaurant was dead but had plenty of space.
The menu looked good on paper but BBQ tasted awful.
The fries were decent. The pulled pork was fatty with no flavor. The BBQ sauce was not worth trying. The brisket was not moist, just try.
The server was friendly though.
I don’t recommend eating BBQ here.
We arrived about 12:45 pm on Friday 6/14. Only 4 other tables/booths with customers. So it really wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be. Got seated immediately. Our hostess took our drink order with a root beer for my son and sweet tea for me.
We both ordered the 4 meat platters. I had 2 orders of chopped brisket, pulled pork and the sausage. My son got 2 orders of sliced brisket, pulled pork, and sliced chicken breast. Sides for me were fries. My son got the house made kettle chips. Our order came out in roughly 10 minutes. It was certainly hot, very well plated (Joplin location our order looked like it was spooned on. It was rather disheveled. Didn’t look appealing even though it tasted good). So the “eye appeal” Rib Crib in Springfield MO met completely.
The sliced brisket didn’t have much, if any, of a smoke ring. The chopped brisket had more fat in it. It was almost unpalatable as it was chewy and didn’t melt in your mouth as it should. Smelled good and it did taste good. My son loved the house made kettle style chips and my fries were nicely seasoned and hot. His chicken was dry according to him. The pulled pork we both enjoyed. Good flavor but we both felt it could’ve packed more punch. Pork can take lots of seasoning as that seasoning has to work deep into the meat. The sausage I had was a bit of a disappointment as it didn’t have that snap as sausage should. The meat seemed like the texture of Vienna sausage (that’s the closest thing I could equate it to) which was a bit off putting. The taste was alright, not great.
The root beer, according to my son, tasted really good. My sweet tea was waaay too sweet. My biggest complaint generally on sweet tea in restaurants that offer it, is it’s not strong enough, not sweet enough, or both. This sweet tea was strong enough. But it was like drinking sugar water. Our hostess checked on us as needed. Made sure we had take home containers for our leftovers. We also ordered the blackberry pie. It came out nice and warm with vanilla ice cream on top. It looked real nice. The pie was completely disappointing as the crust was soggy and the ice cream tasted just like the generic stuff you get at Walmart. To say the least we didn’t finish the pie. A few bites by both of us and we were done. Our hostess asked if we liked the pie and we both said no. It was money not well spent on this.
Overall we had a good time. Rib Crib was very clean, organized, and we had a very good hostess to tend to us. I’m not for sure we’d come back or not. If so I’d like to try the burgers.
The meat overall was alright. Nothing fantastic even though it certainly looked eye appealing. The okra was fantastic, nice and crunchy. Not soft at all. Nicely seasoned. Same for the fries. They were good. The desert was a complete miss and very disappointing. Maybe we’ll return.
