We never make it to this part of town so we stopped by and tried this place out. Food was great. Drinks were good. Some a little on the sweet side but that happens. The bacon wrapped peppers with shrimp and cream cheese was delicious. They were huge. We ordered the monthly specials. The Barrio Barbacoa was tasty maybe a little dry but mixing it up and adding salsa and pickled onions saved the dryness for the most part. The Birria tacos were delicious and the consomme satisfied us. The ice cream cake was the best! Highly recommend that cinnamon and vanilla dessert of deliciousness. They gave is samples of the sauces and the mole tasted good…. Will have to come back and try that next time. Our server was attentive and patient with us. Place is small so there was an almost 25 minute wait so plan accordingly!

Great food with artistic flair to each plate. I came here to Tucson to visit a friend and was told this place has been trending and it didn’t disappoint. The servers were nice and I love that they bring out a sample of all the salsa that you might encounter on the menu before ordering so that you know what the taste will be like. We got to sample the salsa verde, salsa roja, bean salsa, and mole salsa. The portion sizes are really big and worth the price. Definitely would come again!

Fantastic restaurant! The food was incredible, no wonder why they are being recognized by the food industry! But, The Service!!! Outstanding! Ask for Eduardo! He has a keen sense of humor, knows the food (he should, he grew up with it!). Loved that he told us all about the story of how the restaurant evolved and grew. Really an enjoyable young man who knows his chosen field! We hope to visit again soon, we have another reason to leave Colorado and visit Tucson! One of the best dining experiences we have had! If we could put extra stars on this review, we would!! Thanks again for such an enjoyable evening!

Expect a long wait, but don’t decide to go somewhere else to eat! Go across the road to The Watering Hole and have a couple of drinks over there. (The staff are amazing). Back to La Frida…The food is absolutely amazing!!! The drinks are pretty good, some look better than they taste. The vibe is pretty chill and everyone is so friendly! Our server Maribel was so amazing, helpful, and knowledgeable about the food. Give this place a try and you won’t be disappointed!!

Just finished an amazing meal at La Frida. The flavors are incredible, so fresh, layered, and delicious. We were welcomed with a dish of 4 sauces, allowing us to try each and decide on an entree. Claudia, the owner, is a creative genius and was warm and welcoming. Our server Andrea was knowledgeable, fun, and perfectly guided us through the menu. I didn’t save room for dessert but indulged anyway – the carlota was out of this world.

Amazing food and service. We went for a late lunch on Saturday and the wait was over an hour. Luckily there were 2 free seats at the bar. Bartender was friendly. Server provided chips with 4 signature sauces/salsa that she explained. Elote appetizer was marvelous! Very balanced in flavor, not sweet like some can be. Quesabirria tacos and flautas as mains were yummy and too much, so we took some home. Regular lime margarita on rocks also very good. They had a line up of cocktails that looked impressive.

Really a top notch restaurant, been there a few times, they have good food, good service, cool atmosphere. They don’t take reservations which is kind of a pain, you must be prepared to wait at busy times. Going for an early or late meal is ideal to me because the wait will be lower. Margarita was good, carne asada tacos were good although the meat could be more flavorful, still better than most restaurant tacos. Chicharrones steak was pretty good but definitely has a lot of fat so be aware it is a heavy hitting dish. Las Rebeldes, tuna tartar with avocado and a wonton base was very good, probably the best of the dishes I have tried. The green sauce used in many beans are very good. Costilla de Elote was very good. Las Generalas, birria tacos were ok. Las Traditionales is very good the sauce is great.
Parking has been both easy and a pain depending on the day. The lot is small and a little awkward. Do be aware of not parking in the spots reserved for neighboring businesses they seem to be strict about it with multiple signs but it can be confusing when you arrive. For big vehicles or if the parking is a mess you can park in the shopping center parking lot and then walk over.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday on 11/16 and we had the loveliest time.
The food was so complex, yet authentic. The price point was great for the quality and the amount of food we got. The sauces were amazing, and the fact that the complimentary tortilla chips came with five different unique dips is an example of how this places set the bar high in even the smallest ways.
We enjoyed how the ambience was elevated- not a casual joint, and not fine dining, something in between- cute and lively. The cocktails were fun and unique. Everything had a lovely presentation.
We enjoyed the service- Sam was amazing! It was a delight to be asked if we were celebrating an occasion during the opening greeting from Sam, and then later feel seen and celebrated with the complimentary birthday dessert, which exceeded all expectations. Top notch service.
The only somewhat negative: No reservations are accepted. Luckily for us, we got to sit immediately around 7:30 on a Sunday night. There aren’t a ton of nearby bars or places to hang out at for the duration of a potentially long wait time, especially if you were to uber there like we did. However, that’s a small thing, and we loved the experience so much that it didn’t really matter, just throwing it out there to let other potential diners know. 🙂
We will drive from Tempe to Tucson to enjoy again soon! Thank you!

Went there with some family. I got to tell you. everything from the owner coming out to explaining the salsa/ sauce the drinks that we ordered to the food and dessert delicious. The wait was a bit long but well worth it. So don’t leave
I waited to long to try something close to how my mom would make food for us. the same love and dedication it takes to bring wonderful flavors together. From the chile sauces to the meat seasoning and the presentation. I wanted to take a nap and wake up to eat there again.
Skip Amelia and head to fridas if you want authentic mexican cuisine I’m talking home of mexico del rancho, love and passion on a plate.

First time at La Frieda today. Amazing. Great waitress. Great food. Great atmosphere. Waitress brought out the four sauces. Great way to make up your mind as to what to order and know what it’s going to be like. We started with elote. It was excellent. My wife had shrimp tacos. I had the chicken enchiladas with amazing molé sauce. They were both fantastic. Ended up with the key lime custard. Over the top! We’ll be back!!
