Great food and service, we were able to order from the main menu but able to order a couple of items from the tapas menu, so thank you to the staff for accommodating this.
What we had:
•Butter Chicken
•Garlic and Cheese Naan
•Loaded Truth
•Bombay Tacos
•Tandoori Wings
•Bombay Shots
The butter chicken was definitely the best dish out of everything, it was so delicious, rich and creamy and one of the best butter chickens I’ve had in the UK. The garlic and cheese naan was very soft and freshly made.
We managed to order the Bombay Tacos and Loaded Truth (fries in mince meat and cheese) which were both really good and we enjoyed these and the tandoori wings were tasty but average but the paani puri definitely could’ve been better as they tasted stale and you could tell they weren’t fresh.
We did get some mocktails but they were average and I’ve had better in other places.
Overall food was delicious, and we did enjoy it and staff were very attentive but it was very noisy to the point where you couldn’t hear yourself or others around you.
Tip: Please don’t dress up when going to this restaurant, everyone that goes here seems to wear casual clothes. We made the mistake of dressing up since it was a special occasion, and based on the videos/pictures from TikTok and Instagram we thought this would be a formal attire restaurant but clearly not.

Fantastic location and food. When we arrived they couldn’t find my reservation. However sorted us with a table by the window overlooking the channel.
Great service and food. Will certainly be back. Will book a pod outside next time.

We really enjoyed our evening at 1988. The food was delicious, very tasty and generous portions too! The restaurant was busy, we didn’t have a reservation but we still got a table for two which even had a sea view! We spoke to several members of staff, all of which were very friendly and approachable. I can highly recommend 1988, although book ahead, it’s popular and I think we got lucky as walk ins, arriving quite early on the evening!

Great food and service. Atmosphere was also good, we came at 5 when it opened it quickly got busy on a Sunday. Really unique to have a curry over looking the sea, would recommend.

Had a fantastic meal here last night. It was for a friends birthday and the staff went out of their way to make it special including accommodating our preferred choice of table. The food is great, some of the best Indian food in the area, the portions huge (don’t order too much). Location is probably the best in the area. Can’t wait to go back in the summer for dinner with a view.
Oh and their vegan chocolate cake dessert is to die for

Our first time here and we were treated like regulars. The menu selection is impressive to say the least. The explanation regarding our request for allergens was super professional and time was given to us to explain everything. We had to take some food home so looking forward to breakfast

Despite booking well in advance when our party of four arrived there were no tables free and the member of staff who met us just said ‘yes we are busy aren’t we’. They were not in the least bit bothered or at all apologetic for the oversight. Even if they had honoured our booking, the place was packed and there was no parking for 1988 available. The member of staff suggested we park at the nearby Captain’s Wife, go in and register (as if you were a customer there) and then return. Needless to say, we did not return. On this experience I would not recommend visiting this restaurant.

Down a winding narrow country lane you’ll find this restaurant and a small car park, right on the seafront.
Inside the restaurant has a nice decor and plenty of good sea views.
The food itself was great, classics on the menu and lots of interesting more unique choices.
Starters came quickly, followed shortly by the mains.

Absolutely stunning every time. The prawn puri is insane and the butter chicken is unreal

After multiple visits this little gem has become our go to when it comes to an authentic Indian experience whether eating in the restaurant or having a home delivery. Located near the captain’s wife and sully island this small but great looking restaurant boasts beautiful views as well as beautiful, full of flavour, very impressive food. I’ve waited to write a review but have been unable to find a fault with anything I’ve ordered so far and I’ve tried something different every time. It’s nice to find somewhere that isn’t just meat thrown in a sauce, everything has its own identity and some items on the menu are showstoppers. I ordered a special which came in a pineapple, I thought it was a gimic but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it was a very well made, delicious meal which I’m sure to go for again. A must if you love Indian food.
