I got the Lasooni kebab, Hyderabadi chicken dum biryani, and Dum Ka chicken with naan (ordered the naan separately).
The Dum Ka chicken was my favorite – super flavorful, unique, and had a really nice curry leaf aroma. The biryani tasted great overall, though the chicken was slightly dry and could’ve had a bit more masala. Kebab and naan were both very good as well.
The servers were friendly and welcoming. Wanted to try Shahi Tukda for dessert but it wasn’t available so maybe next time. This is definitely a spot I’d come back to.
The biryani is aromatic and perfectly cooked, the curries are deep and comforting, and the naan comes out warm and just right. You can tell the kitchen respects tradition while maintaining consistency and quality.
Service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming — ideal for both a casual dinner or bringing guests who truly appreciate good Indian food.
If you’re in Laguna Woods or nearby, Charminar is absolutely worth the visit. We’ll be coming back.
On the positive side, the ambience was pleasant with a comfortable, casual dining setup that made the space feel welcoming. The service was average not bad, but not particularly attentive either. A bit more engagement and attention to order details would have improved the experience.
The lamb biryani was about 3/5 decent flavor but nothing standout.
The Gobi Manchurian was also around 3/5 and it came much spicier than expected even though I requested mild.
The veggie noodles were disappointing, with almost no vegetables at all.
For dessert, the Shahi Tukda was about 2.5/5, lacking richness and a bit too soggy.
Overall, the meal was okay, but there’s room for improvement in both the food consistency and service.
The paneer in paneer butter masala was spoilt as it was completely brown in color from inside (photo attached).
Additionally, the waiter asked us to get spicy malai kofta when we ordered medium spice level. The malai kofta had jalapeño chopped in the gravy (photo attached) – which was not what we asked for. It was very spicy. The waiter said it is supposed to be that way.
We had to take both the matters to the owner to get a solution.
The mutton ghee roast and chicken biryani was good.
