Exceptional Wedding & Reception Experience at Morgan River Grill
Morgan River Grill exceeded every expectation in hosting our son’s wedding and reception. From the very first planning conversation to the final farewell, the entire team was professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the day perfect.
The venue was absolutely stunning, featuring beautiful waterfront views and a warm, elegant Christmas-themed ambience that added a truly magical touch to the celebration. The special details made all the difference—custom menu, signature drink, and other personalized displays, beautiful table decorations, thoughtfully arranged décor, and other touches that elevated the entire experience and made the event feel both intimate and refined.
Morgan River Grill expertly juggled multiple areas of the event, seamlessly coordinating appetizers on the patio, a champagne toast and dinner on the porch, and the indoor space for cake cutting and dancing, so that everything flowed perfectly without a hitch. The staff was exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout the evening. A special thank-you to Dina, whose creativity, warmth, and meticulous attention to detail turned every moment into a little masterpiece. She anticipated every need, added personal touches we hadn’t even imagined, and made the entire celebration feel effortless and magical.
The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and elegantly presented. Guests thoroughly enjoyed every dish, from appetizers to dinner, which added a perfect touch to the festive and joyful atmosphere.

We recently hosted a small, intimate citizenship celebration at Morgan River Grill on Dataw Island, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant and its staff. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such genuine warmth and care that it felt like we were their only table, even though we had a group of about 15 people.
The staff went above and beyond in every possible way. The decorations were personal, thoughtful, and truly special — far more meaningful than we ever expected. Our guests were touched by the attention to detail, and it added so much heart to the evening.
The food was absolutely phenomenal, and our waitress was extraordinary. She was attentive without ever being intrusive, and she somehow managed to stay perfectly on top of everything for our entire group as if she were caring for just two people. Every need was met, and then some, for each of our guests — including several who traveled all the way from New Jersey.
This celebration meant a great deal to our family, and Morgan River Grill made it unforgettable. Their professionalism, kindness, and exceptional service created a night we will treasure forever. We are deeply grateful and will be recommending this restaurant to everyone we know.

What a great hidden gem!
My wife has eaten here once before with her church lady’s and this being my first experience eating at this wonderful hidden gem.
Our waitress Diane greeted us when we first entered the restaurant. Diane said pick any table that you like. Diane also shared she is new here and this was only her second time waitressing. I said, we are new here too so no worries.
I could write on and on about how great this place is but you will need to experience it for yourself.
I rate her service a 10, quality of the food a 10 and the cost very reasonable especially when comparing other restaurants in our area of Lady’s island and St. Helena Island.
Thank you to the wonderful cook (kitchen staff) who prepared us a delicious meal and to Diane for making us feel welcome and at home with her wonderful attentiveness and personality.
She made us feel like we just gained a new friend.

We’ve been visiting MRG for about two years whenever we’re in the Beaufort area, as we have family nearby who were frequent customers. Over time, however, the quality and consistency of both the food and service have noticeably declined.
The menu descriptions no longer reflect what is actually served. For example, the crab cakes are described as being served on a bed of grits, yet they instead arrived on mashed potatoes. The Brussels sprouts—described as shaved—were instead boiled and nearly inedible. When a meal for two approaches $200, the food should match the menu’s description and expectations.
While our waitress was friendly, she did not check back to confirm our order was correct, dropping off the food and immediately moving on to another table. Although the restaurant was busy, this added to the overall lack of quality in service. When we eventually asked about the discrepancies, we were told that the kitchen plates dishes however they choose, regardless of what the menu states. This isn’t the waitresses fault, but is unacceptable as people may have allergies to certain foods etc. the waitress did offer to ask if it could be fixed but at that point it was too late.
Unfortunately, this lack of consistency and attention to detail has made what was once a reliable dining option increasingly disappointing.

This is a hidden gem, but when on S.C. Fripp Island it’s a must go for dinner. The food the Chef made was off the charts, all from scratch and prepared perfectly. Great sunsets at this private location.

The staff were so friendly and efficient. The food was the best. I had numerous guests telling me that was the best food they ever had at a rehearsal dinner, especially the oysters, potatoes, and the prime rib. The vibe and the location of the restaurant is amazing and beautiful. And I can’t forget to mention that the sunset view was unbelievable!! I wish I could give them 10 stars

This place is fantastic! The food is delicious, views are beautiful, and the staff is so friendly! Maria the owner was so friendly walking around and speaking with each table. Danielle was our waitress and she was wonderful! We had the she crab soup, crabcakes, seafood gumbo, oysters Rockefeller, seafood gumbo, and the mahi fish dinner – every thing was so tasty & high quality ingredients! We will be back – not to mention such a beautiful short 15 min drive from Beaufort!

My wife and I got married nearby. We looked around for a place to have our reception and we stumbled upon morgan river grill. After we had conversations with Maria we knew it was going to be our spot.
Maria and the entire morgan river grill team put together an amazing reception dinner for us. They custom made a few dishes for us, they decorated it to the style that we were. Maria showed genuine interest and care and she put forth way more effort into us than either of us were anticipating.
The food was incredible. The atmosphere is incredible. I absolutely could not recommend this establishment enough. Whether it’s just for a dinner or you want to rent out a room for an event, you’d be doing yourself a disservice to go anywhere else.
