Cootie Browns – Explore Bristol
Our Jamaican, New Orleans, Mexican, Italian, and American entrees have been delighting East Tennessee residents since we opened in 1999.

BIG menu!
I had Greek chicken breast that I added a side of artichoke and spinach to. The chicken was a little over cooked, but I liked the flavor combination.
The goat cheese and pesto salad with added chicken was a disappointment, the very small amount of goat cheese with pesto came on the side in a hot dish. I do not recommend this particular salad off their menu.
The fish taco was a hit.
The bison burger was good.
The chocolate cake and the Key Lime pie were were the best part of the meal, definitely would go back for dessert.

Really unfortunate I have to type all this but here is my experience start to finish. Placed a to go order over the phone for a Memphis pizza and a Cobb salad. Total came to $44.61 plus I left the change for tip so $45 total. Price wasn’t the problem. The problem is when I got home and opened the pizza, take a look at the photo, no words need be said about that. Burnt to a crisp. Bottom was way worse. So I take the pizza from my house BACK to the restaurant for a refund. Now I’m on my second trip. When I got there I showed them the pizza and asked for refund. Here is where the real problem starts. They refunded me precisely $25 for the return of the pizza and we kept the salad. Remember though I paid $45 for a single pizza and single salad… So I realized after I left they didn’t even refund me the full amount as I currently was left with a single salad and I was out $20. Called back and placed another order under different name and salad price came to $17 and some change after tax. Now after I realized I’ve essentially been scammed out of my money (amount isn’t important) I returned home to get the salad and made a THIRD trip back to the restaurant to get my $20 back because for one I felt scammed out of the money they didn’t refund, but second, who is okay with paying $20 for a single salad? They gave me a really hard time about returning the salad because “nothing was wrong with the salad” which was true, but there was something wrong with the fact they essentially scammed me and than acted as if I was in the wrong for asking for my money back. Crazy how businesses operate these days. Will never be back to another cootie browns location. I eventually got all my money back after 3 trips, 3 phone calls, and haggling 3 different people. Unreal. Also we took not a single bite so don’t say we just wanted free food. Wasted an hour of my time and gas and now I’m still hungry. Went to the grocery store instead.

We were on our way back to Virginia from Gatlinburg Tennessee and decided to make a pit stop for food. Saw the name Cootie brown on the GPS. My wife asked, isn’t that the same place we saw on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives?
I said yes!
So with that we had to check it out.
And I am so glad we did!
The atmosphere was inviting and clean. Our waitress was excellent!
But the food!
The food was phenomenal!
We didn’t eat a lot. But what we did eat we thoroughly enjoyed! The Jerk Chicken was juicy and seasoned just right.
Everything was fresh and hot.
And the desert was addictive.
I would definitely recommend making a stop by this place if you’re ever in the area. You won’t be disappointed.

Ordered dinner while in town for a conference. I used DoorDash and it arrived sooner than expected which was great because I was starving! What I recieved was all amazing, the greek chicken, sweet potatoes and black beans. I was disappointed I didn’t get the gluten free key lime pie I ordered and not sure if it was an issue on the resturants end or with the DoorDasher. DoorDash is offering me a refund for it since it was missing. Other than that, I’d definitely eat here again and hope to try the pie one day because I’ve heard so many good reviews on it.

Went for lunch with very few customers. Waited an unusually long time for a grinder and sandwich, at least 15 but probably 20 minutes. The waitress was great but she can only bring what’s put out by the kitchen. While the food was good nothing wowed us. The prices were fair, not cheap or expensive. The restaurant is nicely decorated. We drive past Bristol monthly and had been wanting to try this place for a while, glad we did.

Frommagio Pizza was delicious. Asparagus was delicious. Brussel sprouts were delicious. Service was a little slow. There was a line to pay at the dessert counter. But the food and the restaurant are pretty amazing!

Waited a long time for food at lunch. Server was apologetic. My daughter’s pizza was good, but my chicken breast was dry. Brussel sprouts tasted like they they just put the balsamic vinegar on it after cooked. Salad was good

Thank you Gracie, for such amazing hospitality! The food was so delicious! Super fun atmosphere! Clean bathrooms. Cute bar with a full spectrum of choices! Fresh, hot chips in the nachos, pizza was huge hit, Jamaican hand pie was really good too! Tried the keylime pie and pumpkin cheesecake, both very good!

We are regulars at all Cootie Brown’s. We live in Blountville, so the two Locations in Johnson City. And Bristol We goa minimum of once if not twice a month
ETSU location the best
North roan st next
Bristol is our least favorite
At the Bristol location Tuesday, March 3 5 PM we ordered half a meat lovers pizza and four smoked wings
As soon as we got, our food a hair was in the barbecue across two of the four wings
We got the bartender which was our waiter to take them back and Remake
We focused on the pizza and we started eating a piece when we found plastic melted on a couple of pieces. We got the waiter again and showed him they acted like we were just complaining. We picked the plastic out of the pizza and tried to eat, but was too nervous about are they more?
When the gentleman brought our wings out, he was a different waiter and he also had the attitude like it was our fault
Needless to say the waiter said they would go tell the manager we were there another 45 minutes and a manager was never in sight And no one never come to our table
We will continue going to the Johnson City locations But last night was our last time at the Bristol location the food is always good and a hair in your food is a total accident. We understand
But a manager never coming by the table and the way the employees acted showed us how they really cared
When you go to the ETSU location, everybody there is happy dressed a little better seemed to like their job
Bristol location seven employees working nobody seemed happy and a few didn’t have the best hygiene

We had heard pretty good things from locals and based on reviews, so decided to check them out while visiting Bristol. Our server was wonderful, fun, friendly and a self professed Cootie eater herself. While she did emphasize that there were some tasty fish tacos at Cooties, and the way she talked had me curious to taste these tacos – I decided to go with their house made tamales instead. The tamales *were* good, but I wouldn’t label them as spectacular, so if we go back I might have to take her up on eating the tacos instead.
