The ciabatta bread was amazing. Lovely loaf of cheese bread. The cookies were delicious. Prices are beyond reasonable for the quality.

I had heard of this place before and decided to try them for the first time on a whim yesterday – I was a little hesitant to go at first because normally Charleston parking is a nightmare but this place has their own little free parking lot on the left side. All I want to say is their SEEDED SOURDOUGH is the best MF bread I have ever eaten. It is way better than store bought and now I am going to be a repeat customer. You will pay a little more than what you are going to pay for bread at a grocery store but it is WELL WORTH IT and cheaper than I thought it would be. Their employees were also very nice!

I grew up with bread from the grocery store, so going to a bakery weekly in order to get our bread supply was a novelty. It quickly turned into a habit, and there’s no turning back.
Update: We were lucky to land a loaf of kalamata, absolutely delicious and what it sounds like, and I got creative for lunch unsung end pieces, eggs, shredded and sliced cheddar cheese, meat crumbles (sausage in our house but you do you) and chives. Muffin tin, 400• for 14 minutes, strips of cheddar over top for another 2 minutes. First Watch couldn’t put out anything better. Pictured. Hope someone else tries it!
Original: The bread choices are all delicious, and we love the sourdough varieties best. The bagels are the best I’ve ever had, the baguettes crispy and buttery and oh so versatile. The cookies and other treats are also delicious.
I don’t have a photo of the bread or store, but here’s our girl enjoying the last of the baguette.
Highly recommend.

We are from N.C. and had went to get some pottery in St. Albans. We decided to stop in Charleston on the way back home to have lunch. We saw the bakery and decided to go in. We asked about the raisin bread. Oh my gosh, luckily they had one raisin bread left. This is the best raisin bread I’ve ever had. ❤️ We will call to reserve items the next time we’re coming through.

Always good and fresh. Delightful desserts and nice varieties of bread ❣️
The pumpkin seed granola is very good with my blueberries and yogurt
Don’t monkey around. Try their Monkey Bread, yum.
Got bagels for the first time had to be there when they were ready no ordering ahead but definitely worth it. Took one bite of my jalapeno cheese bagel on the way out had to go back and get another, in fact I got one of each they’re all good.

I recently bought bread from this shop and absolutely loved it. The flavor is rich yet light, making each bite surprisingly addictive without feeling heavy or greasy. It’s the kind of bread that keeps you reaching for another slice without any guilt.
This was my first time purchasing here, and I was truly impressed by both the taste and the overall quality. The texture is soft and fresh, showing clear attention to ingredients and baking methods. It’s a wonderful balance of aroma and flavor that stands out from other bakeries I’ve tried.
I sincerely hope the shop maintains this same recipe and quality, because I can easily see myself coming back often to enjoy it again. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates fresh, flavorful bread that’s anything but ordinary

I had never spent much time in Charleston until my internship for my masters brought me here. It’s been about 4 years since discovering Charleston Bread and I’m just as obsessed with it as I was the first time I bought a loaf of bread. Their range and selection of breads and baked goods (the best peanut butter cookies and almond croissants I’ve had in any city, state, or country) has never disappointed – though they tend to sell out fast. It’s not for lack of baking, the things they sell are just that good. I’ve never had a bad experience, a bad item purchased, and the workers are exceptionally kind even on the days that they are slammed. On another note, I have a few severe illnesses that can during a flare limit what I’m able to eat. Having access to a bakery that uses limited ingredients has made my life so much easier during those periods of time, so I’m grateful that they exist!

Charleston Bread is a lovely local business! Conveniently located near Capitol Market, it’s right by downtown Charleston. The store smells absolutely delicious as soon as you walk in. They offer loaves of bread, cookies, bagels occasionally, and other baked goods. Everything I’ve had from Charleston Bread has been fresh and delicious. I highly recommend everyone stop in here!

Awesome Artesan bakery if you live or are visiting the Charleston, WV area. Big tip…get there early if you want their delicious breads and pastries. They’re open from Tuesday-Saturday, closed on Sundays and Mondays. You can even call ahead and place reserved orders. Will definitely continue to frequent their business and I highly recommend The Charleston Bread Company!

This is a great bakery. They have a good variety of daily fresh baked bread. I love there Chiabatta and Country bread, but I have had multiple types of bread there and it has all been excellent. They also have a variety of daily fresh baked sweet goods also. The chocolate chip, almond cranberry. And cheese Danish are all excellent and they have many more selections. They only have counter service, like most bakery I have visited in my 76 years. No tables from eating in.
