We were staying in the hotel a few days so wanted to have dinner in the botanist restaurant. Beautiful classic restaurant. However we were very disapoointed with the food.
We took the lobster tasting menu at 120 € pp. Amuses bouche very unimpressive especially the cherry tomatoes. The only highlight of the menu was the lobster tail ( main course) which was very tasteful. The rest, very plain and the dessert was something i can buy at the patissier every day, not what i expect in a gastronomic restaurant.
The dishes from the seasonal menu which was 75€ looked better.

The Botanist serves Excellent French cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients. Great cocktails, fine wine and tasty desserts are all on the menu. The cheese is highly recommended. All provided with top notch service you would expect from a restaurant in a five star hotel. It’s the best restaurant I’ve been to on my 2 week vacation in Europe and I am having a hard time thinking of any restaurant in my home town that’s as good. A real treat.

We did several tasting menues—at Inverlochy, Lovat House, and Schloss Roxburgh in Scotland…and at Le Botaniste.

This by far was the best tasting of the four. Bravo!

Very creative and delicious dishes made with a fresh ingredients. They did the most amazing dishes with beets. The desserts were out of this world. Very attentive, helpful and friendly service. Highly recommended

Food and service was brilliant 🙂

We misunderstood the “Restaurant” sign and we started with a “lap of honor” around the building before we went into the hotel and was welcomed by the very friendly staff.

The fish main (Sea bass with yellow wine sauce) was among the best fish I have ever had 🙂

The cheese trolley was good and the goat cheese with a fig in tasted almost like candy and together with the blue cheese they served at a worthy ending to a good dinner.

Our compliments to the chef! The food and presentation was amazing! The dining room was lovely as well. We just wish the service would have been better. We had to continue to ask for drinks, and felt like we were forgotten. Unfortunately the staff was not the friendliest as well.
Once again the food was delicious from beginning to end!

If it were possible to give more than 5 stars, I would. Every member of the restaurant staff was extraordinarily welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional. We had a wonderful, memorable dinner in a lovely, beautifully-decorated room.

The restaurant is beautiful. The food is excellent. The sommelier was terrific, knowledgeable and inviting. And the female server was excellent and sweet.

However, the main waiter (an older gentleman with glasses) was rude and a snob. When we tried to order “Mac and Cheese” from the children’s menu for our son, he said, “I don’t know what Mac and Cheese is because I don’t eat at McDonalds”. We are certain that this was not a misunderstanding (I’m sure “Mac and cheese” is commonly used instead of “Macaroni and cheese”). This was despite our family returning for the second time while staying at the hotel and spending €700-€800 each night, dressing appropriately and speaking some French. His rudeness was apparent to our young children.

Despite the rest of our stay being wonderful, this experience left us with a bad taste in our mouth and we would be reluctant to return to Le Botaniste in the future.
