Sadly the best things about this place is the merch and the boat parking. Been going to this spot since I was a toddler drinking all my chocolate milk before dinner on the OG side of the restaurant. Came back last weekend and the food totally has gone down hill. Parents couldn’t even eat their fried fish, the patty melt was meh and the salad pizza wasn’t even good anymore. Not many options in the area but I still wouldn’t recommend this spot.

We met some friends for lunch and I was excited because we hadn’t eaten there for many years. My friend’s partner said that the Tavern was renowned for its baby back ribs. I love barbecue so I decided to have a half rack. The soup I had was a chicken soup that was creamy like clam chowder and was excellent. I had sweet potato fries for my side and they were some of the best I had. Unfortunately, the baby back ribs were only average. They were somewhat dry and certainly did not fall off the bone. I would recommend the chicken soup and the sweet potato fries but not the baby back ribs.

A real cool place to eat right on the water! A huge outdoor covered deck and downstairs area! Great for sports watching and a huge indoor fire pit! Service was great and food was too! We will be back again, but only the margarita pizza was amazing! If you buy a pizza get a free Zukey Lave Tavern shirt! We’re told, take a picture anywhere in the world, with the shirt on, then send them the picture with your shirt on, they put it in a frame in the wall! Huge parking lot!!!

We had not been to the restaurant all summer. We stopped there on the way back from visiting family and in Jackson. We were pleasantly surprised to find it opened on a Monday. They were playing BINGO and it was nice and packed. We sat in the bar area at a high-top to have dinner. The server was slammed and it took a while to get food ordered. She forgot some of the side dishes and it took the food a long time to arrive. We both ordered the signature steaks with baked potatoes. The portions were huge and we ate them for several days. The price was very affordable for the portions. We will be back again this fall! The tall glasses of Guinness were nice and cold, too.

I’m here from out of town (Charlotte, NC), after living here in Michigan for most of my life, coming home and having dinner with my family, Xander did a wonderful job with service, a smile….and on top of his game! Food was delicious and atmosphere hasn’t changed…highly recommend!

I have been here twice with my husband and his grandparents, and both times have been highly satisfactory. They have 2 dining areas, the roof top having a smaller menu just for pizza and drinks. The bottom inside level has a larger variety, and plenty of seating. Salads and pizza were great; others I went with had fish and a burger, all which was told to be fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant if you haven’t been here already!

Okay so we heard so many good things about this place. . We drove like 45 min to come here. It was worth it for the view and the service. Our waitress was nice. . The food … not so much. I think we should have stuck to bar food. Pizza looked amazing. We ordered the steak and mushroom app and it was so over salted I couldn’t even eat it. It was super well done. I ordered the filet pasta ,the steak was stringy and the pasta was flavorless. We will come back and try again for sure.
Update : came back to try it again and it was great ! The food was great & the service was great ! We sat outside on the rooftop this time & it was amazing! The most perfect sunny day for it too. Our waiter was nice & fast , he provided great service! We loved the food this time. 10/10 for the taco sampler but the duck one was the best !!!

As a kid I grew up eating pizzas, 1/2 pound burgers, and fries in droves with family and friends in big gatherings in the back rooms, often referred to as the “dark and dungeony” times of the tavern. I am pleased to say those times are long gone as the rennovations have plenty of outside light and offer rooftop views over Zukey lake. What I feel a lot of people get wrong about ZLT is it’s not necessarily about the super high quality of the food, it’s the community that shows up every day. It’s a tavern, it has tavern style food.. Don’t go expecting a steakhouse, seafood hotspot, or gorumet pizza bistro. You go to ZLT because it’s familiar, decent quality, with a large selection of options, at reasonable prices, and you’re on the lake even on game-day. Think of it as a sportsbar on the water, because in reality, that’s what it really is.. And in that persepective, nobody does it better.
What you do get in droves with ZLT is fond memories with friends, family, and other patrons. A place you belong on a Friday or Saturday night cheering on Michigan or MSU football after a long day out on the lake with the family going fishing, tubing, jetskiing, or cruising the lakes. Gorgeous sunsets, memorable merch, and an energy that sticks for generations.
When you go, buy the kids a small adult T-shirt in their color choice and it will be their favorite T-shirt for many years to come. I wore mine for 12 years before it wore-through.
Non-nostalgiac review: Food was pretty good and fresh, service is top-notch as always, and nothing beats the atmosphere.. Even in the dark-dungeony sections that still exist in some corners.

First time going here. Wife and I both had the fish and chips. Sorry to give a negative opinion but we both believe that this was the worst fish and chips we had ever had. The batter was crusty hard and greasy. The fry’s were ok but the coleslaw was soupy. Not worth the $60 spent. Have to say that the dinner rolls are delicious! The waitress was nice and her service was good. Maybe just not our kind of place.
