I recently visited Taipan Dimsum at 1070 Story Rd, and overall, the experience was good. The food was fresh and tasty, and the service was quick. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming. However, there was one issue. A younger, heavier male cashier was working during my visit, and he was a bit cheap when it came to giving out sauces. It was disappointing because I’ve never had this problem at other locations. The rest of the staff and food were great, but the service from this cashier could definitely be improved. Despite that, I’d still recommend Taipan for the quality of food, just hope that the service is more consistent next time.

I usually stop by every morning for their congee and sometimes try other dishes. The roast pork is consistently excellent, and the roast duck over rice never disappoints. The place might feel a little rundown and could use a deep cleaning, but that’s often the sign of truly great food.

My brother wanted to bring back BBQ pork for home. We got in line and along the way found other morsels to try. The pork was nice and moist, they didn’t make the marinade too sweet and cut the pieces just right. We got a couple egg custard for dessert. It was crispy outside and a nice balance of sweet and egg. There were other items to try but we just had brunch so we will check it out for next time.

This is really just a take out place for Dim Sum. If you want sit down with cart service go to Dynasty across the street.
Whenever we order bahn mi sandwiches from Duc Huong across the parking lot we come here to grab Dim Sum to go and then go back and pick up our sandwiches.
If you come after 6pm they do a buy 2 get one free clear out special, which is great, but it means a limited selection compared to what they normally have.
Hope the owners will rent a smaller space and clean it up, because the food is great if you like Hong Kong style dimsum to go.

My husband bought Glutinous rice sesame balls in Taipan today, but he kept vomiting and diarrhea. I have a closer look. The Glutinous rice sesame balls are full of oil. They are not dry. I think they can’t sell out. They are fried again and again. It’s terrible

Roast duck was good. Shrimp dumplings and shrimp Siu Mai were so bad I couldn’t finish. They didn’t smell fresh. And the texture was weird. I also got a green vegetable small dumpling kinda thing, which was good.

Food is decent enough and generally large portions but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE change your gloves if you’re handling cash then food. It’s actually more sanitary if they would just wash their hands instead or have different ppl handling food vs payment.

A great place to eat earlier at 7a on Saturday. We ordered quite a few dishes and they all are good. Dim sum has three in an order and each one is twice as big as other restaurants. The service is exceptional for dine-in. We order one bowel of shrimp wonton soup to share. Instead, we had two bowels, one extra bowel with soup. This is our earlier eating place now.

Decent tarts, dahn tat. 8/10
Shu mai, 8/10
I go for their Pork dumplings, Ham sui gok 9/10, mostly on size alone!
BBQ pork, Char siu, 4/10! Not nearly as glossy, sticky, sweet or charred on the tips as I’m used to from San Francisco. And the taste is way off. Maybe it was a bad/off day, but I’m thinking not. Anyone else?

Prices are reasonable and everything tastes great. The chive dumplings, eggplant dumplings, shrimp rice noodle rolls, and chow mein were all tasty.
