The dumplings I ordered looked terrible and tasted even worse. They had a strange sour taste and I honestly couldn’t tell what kind of cuisine this was supposed to be. Definitely not fresh and definitely not enjoyable.
I also ordered a red bean ice cream dessert. It was basically just a bowl of ice. I asked them to replace it, but the second one was almost the same — slightly more ice cream, but still mostly ice.
Both dishes were extremely poor in quality. The presentation and taste were unacceptable. I left feeling very disappointed and would not recommend this place.
I also love the Surf & Turf sizzling hot plate — hot, fragrant, and full of flavour. Fish siu mai & rice noodle rolls — easily some of the best Hong Kong café classics. Don’t forget that Milk tea with tofu dessert — unique, creamy, and surprisingly addictive
The restaurant is quite big and can fit a lot of people. A lot of families there. Their service was speedy. The food came out pretty fast.
Everything is decently affordable. I love that all of their meals come with a complimentary drink (coffee, tea, milk tea, etc). We got 3 dishes to share (with 4 drinks) and it only came out to $15/person after tax and tips!
Out of the 3 dishes, the only one that amazed me was this dish called, baked bolognese spaghetti and tomato chicken steak on rice. The half rice and half spaghetti combo worked really well and it was delicious.
I’d definitely go back and try other dishes!
Upon entering on a Sunday night, the hostess stand and wait area was crowded with lost patrons and one hostess running around
The hostess acknowledged our need for a table for the cafe side but then forgot about us so we waited a while
When we got to our (dirty) table, we were not offered any waters. We had to flag for service and ask for it.
We ordered an assorted steak rice and egg, a Bolognese meat sauce spaghetti/ tomato sauce chicken rice, wings with fries and shrimp toast with fries.
The food came really quick however, our first dish (the assorted steak) was fully missing the fried egg.
We were not given any utensils upon having our dishes delivered.
We worked with what was already on the table … Which were 3 spoons and one plate. I’d expect any attentive server to realize that when you dropped off any of those dishes that we can’t just eat with one spoon.
We had to flag down the server a couple of times to get one fork, one more fork, one knife and 2 more plates ….
And we had to tell the server were missing a whole fried egg as our first dish.
The milk tea was also bland and watered down.
Overall the food was ok but the service was definitely lacking tonight. Hopefully it was just a one off night for them.
We order Pork and Chicken Grill,
Meat is soft enough
And White sauce with truffle mushroom baked fish with rice, for sure we will
Come again especially after seeing the film next to this big restaurants.
Service is fast and polite.
Warning – long rant about poor customer service begins:
I made reservations Friday afternoon for Saturday night. Half our party arrived but they couldn’t find our reservation. They got seated, then were asked to get up and go back to the waiting area, then got seated again. When I arrived, they came by twice asking about the reservation because they couldn’t find it.
We waited so long for them to take our drink order or start us off with some waters but nobody came until we asked (~15 mins). Our waters did not get refilled at all during our meal there. We ordered stuff from the seafood boil menu. We were a bigger group but only got one bucket for shells. Ideally, there should’ve been one at each end of the table. We had to ask for gloves because they didn’t give enough for everyone. We had to ask for plates because we didn’t have any when our seafood boil stuff arrived. The shell bucket was looking full so someone came by and asked if we wanted it changed – but this is something they should’ve done without asking. At the end of our meals, they cleared our plates. We brought a cake that we had given to them when we arrived. They asked if we needed plates for the cake. ????? How else are we supposed to eat it? Then they brought the cake out but didn’t give us a knife. We had to ask them for a knife, and it somehow took three staff members discussing something to finally get us a butter knife? We did end up getting a bigger one afterwards (not a cake knife though). There was another table celebrating a birthday so maybe they had the cake knife (?).
Normally, I’d like to think it was just one person having a bad day. BUT, this experience was not just from one server. It was at least 3 different people throughout the night.
Another thing I found weird (though it doesn’t impact my rating) is that they didn’t seem to understand Chinese – but they are partly a Chinese cafe and they have a Chinese menu..
Has a nice casual atmosphere to enjoy amazing Hong Kong style food. Would definitely recommend
