Really wanted to love this place having just returned from living in the USA for three years. The décor and themes are great, pretty busy but fantastic. Service was decent, quick and helpful. The food is where things go a little off course…we went for a late breakfast. I ordered the breakfast and hot chocolate, the wife had the American breakfast, and a vanilla latte. The drinks were impressive my hot chocolate was a meal in itself, the wifes latte was a bit strong of vanilla flavour for her linking. When the breakfast arrived I was disappointed to see an English breakfast in front of me, they really missed the American breakfast mark by a long shot. No streaky bacon, deep fried triangle hash browns, not traditional pan fried grated potato, fat pork sausage not a skinny breakfast link. It just wasn’t American in any way. It was also an average English breakfast, the hash browns tasted of oil, sausage was ok bacon was thick but the fat was still soft and white, fried eggs were a little runny but pale in yolk colour. The wife’s pancakes were good, but again British bacon back, not rendered, pale scrambled eggs. We certainly left full and satisfied, but disappointed with the quality and style. As we left someones hot dog was being served and again it was in a French baguette, not a hot dog bun…
We’d probably go back and try a main meal to see if that was more like the food we miss from the states.

Easy access just off the A303.
Lovely family owned American styled Diner.
Good choice on menu and good drinks menu with shakes.
Cocktails also available.
Prices reasonable and a good experience overall.

This is an ideal rest stop from London to the West Country when using the A303.
Food is excellent – far better quality (Porsche vs Ford = multiples), and very cheap.
I had a quad burger meal at £21. which was actually two double burgers in buns – 20oz of homemade burgers and two burger buns in all. Yummy, all meat, virtually no fat or grease. The quad burgers come with a bottle of beer, mega onion rings and a huge portion of chips. You could easily share this meal between 2 in which case the cost is comparable to a Big Mac – but far far far superior quality.
If I’d had the room I’d have added the ice cream sundee, which looked delicious but even I was too full!!!!
The theming is brilliant and adds some fun to your meal while you look at the old photos and enjoy the music.
Definately a recommended destination point.

Been meaning to visit here for a while, couldn’t quite work out if it was just a truck stop… we were pleasantly suprised to find a proper American style Diner. Found it very difficult not to quote Pulp fiction while ordering my maltshake veggie burger and fries (“like a wax musuem with a pulse”) enjoyed it a bunch. Staff were lovely food came quick. Bonus: Learned Maralyn Monroe’s fitting measurements from a poster in the gents lavs.

The music, decor, staff and food couldn’t be faulted. We had an Elvis burger and a Fats Domino’s burger . Staff were very friendly and service was prompt. Will definitely visit again.

We stumbled up on this place when heading back home to Cardiff from the Haynes museum. We absolutely loved it. Initially went in just for drinks but ended up having food as well. Service was awesome, the diner was well decorated and the food was great. The owner was lovely and came and chatted to us which was a nice touch. Will definitely visit again.

Took my kids to **Mattia Diner** after they’d been once before with their grandparents and couldn’t stop talking about the milkshakes—so we had to go back and experience it together. They each picked their favourite milkshakes again, and I have to say, they really are top-tier—thick, creamy, and full of flavour. Definitely the highlight of the visit!

We all had burgers—I went for the Marilyn Monroe Classic Burger with golden fried onions. It was tasty, and you can tell some thought goes into the presentation, but I did feel the portion size was on the smaller side for the price. We also ordered garlic bread, but honestly, it was more like warm bread without much garlic flavour. The nachos were another bit of a letdown—lacking the usual cheesy, saucy toppings that make nachos a go-to snack.

However, what really made the visit enjoyable was the **friendly and welcoming staff. They were great with the kids, very attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The diner itself was super clean and had a fun, American-style atmosphere that the kids loved.

We finished off the trip by letting the kids choose some of their favourite American candy to take home—which they were thrilled about.

All in all, the milkshakes and service really stood out. If you’re heading to Mattia Diner, I’d absolutely recommend it for the milkshakes, the experience, and the warm hospitality—just maybe skip the garlic bread and nachos next time.

A must see place, even if only for all the memorabilia. Great fun. We had breakfast here and it was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming again.

I called in mid afternoon on Saturday to try the diner as somewhere to take a group of friends. I’ve gone past many times and thought it looked good.

I walked in the door was eventually greeted by a waitress (not very welcoming) shown to a table and given a menu. I decided on my order and waited.

No one came so I went up to the bar area explaining I’d never been there before and wasn’t sure how they took orders. I was told that someone should come to take my order but “they forget sometimes”….I’d clearly been forgotten.

A waitress took my order returned a few minutes later to ask whether it was skinny or chunky chips. I said I’d like chunky chips which she said was a good choice.

I had been sat waiting for almost 10 minutes and the waitress returned saying the kitchen “couldn’t process my order” I thought they had some technical failure but the waitress then said (despite having taken my order and made me sit waiting) I couldn’t order just chips and a drink.

So I left having had no food or drink.

The diner looks good (could do with a decent clean – the door and my table was quite greasy) but sadly I can’t comment on the food or drink.
