My new favorite place to eat in the area! Fresh, authentic, delicious. Maia waited on us ; she was warm and gracious! Monday is burrito Monday and our vegetarian burrito was incredible. The fresh salsa and chips were great. Beautiful sunny interior is an inviting comfy place to dine! No surprise that they won the “best taco in the state” recognition! Sunny indoor area with soft music made dining there extra wonderful. Another customer who comes weekly told us that the outdoor seating is great in the warmer months. I cant wait to try it out!

Delicious! We have had the opportunity to visit Maiz twice now and we have been very satisfied both times. The service is above and beyond from the moment that you walk through the door. They are friendly, welcoming, helpful, and eager to please. The food was prepared promptly and brought right out to our picnic table. They offer a small space for eating on a bar inside or picnic tables outside. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and seasoned with delicious, mouth watering flavor. We hope to visit again soon.

Been meaning to try this place for a while but everytime I drive by they’ve been closed. I ordered the fresh fish corn floured taco & shredded chicken taco. Both were outstanding & I will definitely be returning to try other items. It was $16 for the two tacos, so its not cheap but worth it

Excellent fish tacos! I came here on a Thursday, there is a taco special (3 for $15), excluding the fish and shrimp tacos. So, I ordered 2 birria, one chicken tinga, and one fish taco. Although the beef and chicken were of decent quality and were moist (not dried out), there was a bitter edge to the sauce of both meats. A side of consommé is usually provided with birria, in this case, even if it had been provided, it would not have made a difference. The lettuce provided with the tinga was old. I was told that the fish was Rhode Island cod; it was absolutely perfect, cooked just right and there was the right amount of asadero cheese and pico. The service here is excellent, the man in his 20s who took my order was very friendly, and the location itself is very clean. I also appreciate the sign indicating that in the interest of the environment, plastic utensils, etc. would be provided upon request only. I would definitely return here for the excellent fish tacos next time I’m in the area.

Food was delicious! Corn tortillas are homemade. We ordered shrimp taco, pulled pork taco, and a fish taco. I order fish tacos often when I go out, one of the best fish tacos I have had!
We also had guacamole & chips, street corn, and a pork tamale. Everything was excellent, we left so full! I can’t say enough about the guacamole! We will spread the word and be back.

The tacos are good size with lots of meat, we order 2 taco each. Guac was fresh. Best shrimp taco I’ve had, the flavors of the pineapple and chipotle aioli go so well together. Highly recommend.

omg finally some amazing mexican food that is also in a trendy spot!!! so hard to find in rhode island. love the location near all the cute wakefield shops. this was suuuuch a generous portion of food to try and we ordered guac for our chips. and then a chicken tostada that i inhaled. and my friend got a shrimp taco. their salsa verde is unlike anything i have ever had. reminds me of a palestinian hot sauce we make in gaza and sure enough they use raw green tomatillos. and the freshness could be tasted from the smell. super kind amazing service. glad we ate in the cozy house of a restaurant. their decor is dia de los muertos meets apple farms of RI meets PSL girlie meets spooky szn it’s so well tied together. my friend that i brought is from south kingstown so she’s gonna bring her family and all her URI friends.

Great spot. The food is delicious. They have good weekday deals. The staff is always kind. Dog friendly if your dog is friendly. Thank you Maiz!
Pro-tip: large parties can order to-go and plan a picnic in the park across the street.

The Birria burrito ($16) was fantastic and super tasty! It was pretty large and stuffed well with plenty of beef.
And I also got a pork tamale ($4.50) which was equally as good.
I’m so glad that they didn’t overcook the meat in the burrito. So many places overcook it, but Maiz’s had a little pink to it making it more succulent.
Something about how the cheese was melted in the burrito really took it over the top. I can’t really explain it, but it was so good. Never heard of asadero cheese before, but now I want it and everything lol.
The tamale filling was so soft and had amazing flavor. I would say $4.50 for a big tamale is pretty damn good value.
The girl at the front who served me was so sweet and friendly. It does feel like a small family run place.
